Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Reporting To: COO
Role Summary:
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead the technology vision, architecture, and execution for GTS global platforms, including Omnichannel CPaaS, RCS, Network APIs, and other products & solutions.
The CTO will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms, driving innovation, and ensuring technology capabilities support both MNO and enterprise clients globally. This role will partner closely with Product, Revenue, and Operations teams to enable business growth and differentiation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Strategy & Vision:
- a. Define and execute the long-term technology roadmap aligned with business and product strategy
- b. Drive innovation across telecom, CPaaS, and API ecosystems
- c. Ensure technology scalability, flexibility, and future readiness (5G, cloud-native, AI)
2. Platform Architecture & Engineering:
- a. Lead the design and development of scalable, high-availability platforms:
- i. Omnichannel CPaaS platform
- ii. RCS for Business platforms
- iii. Network APIs
- b. Ensure low latency, high throughput, and global reliability
3. Infrastructure & Cloud Management:
- a. Drive cloud-native architecture and infrastructure strategy (AWS/Azure/GCP or hybrid)

- b. Ensure systems are highly available, resilient, and cost-efficient
- c. Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, and global traffic handling
4. Security, Compliance & Reliability:
- a. Establish best-in-class cybersecurity practices and data protection frameworks
- b. Ensure compliance with telecom regulations, data privacy laws, and international standards
- c. Build robust systems for fraud detection, network security, and platform integrity
5. AI & Automation:
- a. Leverage AI/ML for intelligent routing, fraud detection, predictive analytics, and performance optimization
- b. Enable AI-driven capabilities in CPaaS (bots, automation, customer interaction)
- c. Introduce automation across development, testing, monitoring, and operations (DevOps, AIOps)
6. Engineering Excellence & Delivery:
- a. Implement agile methodologies and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, microservices, APIs)
- b. Ensure faster time-to-market and high-quality releases
- c. Drive engineering productivity, code quality, and innovation
7. Collaboration with Product & Business:
- a. Partner with CPO to translate product vision into scalable technology solutions
- b. Work with CRO and CMO teams to support customer requirements and new opportunities
- c. Provide technical insights for new market entry and partnerships
8. Vendor & Partner Ecosystem:
- a. Manage relationships with technology vendors, telecom operators, and platform providers
- b. Evaluate and onboard new technologies to strengthen capabilities
- c. Drive integration strategies with MNOs and enterprise systems
9. Technology Budget & Investment Strategy:
- a. Optimize technology budgets by aligning investments with business goals and maximizing cost efficiency.
- b. Make informed build vs. buy decisions to ensure the right balance between scalability, flexibility, and expenses.
- c. Focus on long-term unit economics by planning investments that support sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
10. Platform Performance & Optimization Framework:
- a. Establish and track platform performance using well-defined KPIs, SLAs, and real-time metrics.
- b. Drive continuous measurement and reporting to maintain visibility into system health and performance.
- c. Optimize system reliability and efficiency through ongoing monitoring, analysis, and improvements.
11. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
- a. Act as the senior technical representative for the Board, investors, regulators, partners, and customers.
- b. Provide strategic technology insights to support fundraising and key business initiatives.
- c. Lead technical due diligence by clearly articulating platform scalability, security, and differentiation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- Advanced qualifications in cloud, architecture, or security are a plus
Experience:
- 18+ years of experience in technology leadership roles
- At least 8 years in a senior leadership position (CTO / VP Engineering / Head of Technology)
- Strong experience in telecom, CPaaS, messaging platforms, or SaaS infrastructure
- Proven experience building large-scale, high-availability systems
Key Skills:
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and APIs
- Strong understanding of telecom protocols (SMPP, SS7, SIP, Diameter, etc.)
- Experience with high-volume transaction systems and real-time processing
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities
- Strategic thinking with hands-on technical understanding
- Ability to bridge business needs with technology solutions
