Role Description The Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Kottayam. This role is responsible for driving business growth by developing and managing relationships with distribution partners, corporate and retail clients, and local channels to expand the companys footprint. The Business Development Manager will identify new business opportunities, execute sales strategies, achieve targeted revenue and profitability, and promote SBI General Insurances products in the assigned territory. Day-to-day activities include market mapping, lead generation, client meetings, proposal preparation, negotiation, and closing deals, along with regular reporting on performance and pipeline. The role also involves coordinating with underwriting, operations, and claims teams to ensure smooth policy issuance, service delivery, and customer satisfaction, while adhering to regulatory and company guidelines.
Qualifications

• Strong sales, business development, and relationship management skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and convert leads into sustainable business.
• Knowledge of general insurance products and distribution channels, preferably within retail, SME, or corporate segments.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities to engage effectively with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Analytical and planning skills to interpret market trends, track performance metrics, and develop territory-specific growth strategies.
• Proficiency in basic digital tools and CRM or sales management systems to manage leads, pipeline, and reporting.
• Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification in management or insurance is an advantage.
• Prior experience in financial services or insurance business development is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate within cross-functional teams, and adapt to a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
