Job Description
Designation: Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop mechanical concepts based on product, functional, and system-level requirements.
- Perform 3D modeling, detailed design, and 2D engineering drawing creation for components and assemblies.
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies considering strength, stiffness, weight, manufacturability, assembly, packaging, and serviceability.
- Own component/module development from concept through design release and implementation.
- Perform design iterations based on CAE analysis, prototype testing, and engineering feedback.
- Design lightweight structures using aluminum alloys, composites, plastics, and other advanced materials.
- Develop and optimize structures such as fuselage, wings, payload mounting structures, landing gear, brackets, mechanisms, and release systems.
- Apply weight optimization techniques while maintaining structural integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with CAE teams for structural, modal, vibration, and thermal analysis activities.
- Interpret engineering analysis results and implement design improvements.
- Support engineering calculations, design verification, validation, and testing activities.
- Participate in prototype development, evaluation, troubleshooting, and product refinement.
- Translate system and product requirements into component and subsystem-level design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and design verification activities.
- Support manufacturing trials, production readiness, and continuous design improvements.
- Resolve design-related issues identified during testing, validation, and production stages.
- Coordinate with Systems, CAE, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Testing teams.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners on design feasibility and component development.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior design engineers.
- Participate in internal and customer technical reviews.
Skill & Experience Required:
- 5 to 8 Years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, or related engineering disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and engineering drawing standards.
- Proficiency in CATIA or Creo for 3D modeling and detailed design.
- Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, fits, and clearances.
- Experience in lightweight structure design and product development.
- Knowledge of materials including metals, composites, plastics, and their applications.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, joining methods, and assembly considerations.
- Experience with sheet metal, machined parts, castings, plastic components, and composite structures.

- Ability to interpret CAE results and translate findings into optimized design solutions.
- Understanding of structural load paths, strength, stiffness, and durability considerations.
- Experience with design verification, validation, and engineering calculations.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and product development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prepare and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience in UAV, Aerospace, Automotive, or other lightweight engineering product domains.
- Understanding of UAV architecture and subsystem interfaces.
- Experience in lightweight structural design and weight optimization.
- Knowledge of aerodynamic, inertia, vibration, and environmental loading conditions.
- Exposure to composite structures, sandwich panels, and advanced lightweight materials.
- Experience supporting product development from concept through prototype, testing, and production release.
- Experience delivering production-ready mechanical designs and engineering releases.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.
