Litigation Manager - Legal Recovery - NBFC - LLB/LLM

Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Litigation Manager to lead our legal recovery and compliance framework in Mumbai. In this role, you will serve as the primary legal anchor for our NBFC operations, managing complex litigation portfolios and ensuring that all collection activities strictly adhere to regulatory mandates. You will work closely with internal collection teams, external legal counsels, and senior stakeholders to mitigate financial risk and streamline the recovery process. Your efforts will directly impact the organization's bottom line by optimizing recovery cycles and safeguarding the company against legal liabilities in a fast-paced financial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end litigation portfolios, including civil and criminal proceedings, to ensure timely resolution of recovery cases and minimize bad debt.
- Oversee the performance of external legal counsels and panel advocates to ensure high-quality representation and adherence to company litigation strategies.
- Collaborate with collection operations teams to provide legal guidance on recovery tactics, ensuring all field activities remain compliant with RBI guidelines and fair practice codes.
- Draft, review, and finalize legal notices, plaints, and petitions to strengthen the company's position in court and expedite judicial outcomes.
- Monitor regulatory updates and internal compliance metrics to proactively identify legal risks and implement corrective measures across the lending lifecycle.
- Represent the organization in various forums, including courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies, to protect corporate interests and resolve disputes efficiently.
Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in managing high-volume litigation within the financial services or NBFC sector, with a deep understanding of the SARFAESI Act, NI Act, and Arbitration proceedings.
- Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable operational strategies for collection teams, ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, essential for managing external legal partners and resolving disputes through mediation or litigation.
- Exceptional analytical capabilities to assess legal risks and provide sound, commercially viable advice to senior management.
- A degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a reputed institution, coupled with 5 - 10 years of professional experience in handling litigation and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to thrive in an on-site work environment in Mumbai, maintaining high levels of productivity while managing multiple court jurisdictions and tight filing deadlines.
