Role Overview

The Associate Professor / Professor – Defence Technology will be responsible for imparting high-quality teaching, mentoring students, developing industry-relevant curriculum, undertaking research and innovation activities, and strengthening academia-industry-defence collaborations. The incumbent will leverage extensive military and industry experience to prepare students for emerging opportunities in defence technologies, strategic systems, homeland security, and advanced engineering applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in Defence Technology and related engineering domains.
• Develop and continuously update curriculum aligned with industry, defence, and national security requirements.
• Mentor students in projects, internships, innovation challenges, and career development.
• Establish collaborations with defence organizations, armed forces, government agencies, research institutions, and industry partners.
• Promote research, consultancy, patents, publications, and funded projects in defence and strategic technologies.
• Guide student projects in areas such as military systems, electronics, communication systems, autonomous platforms, cyber systems, weapons technologies, maintenance engineering, and emerging defence technologies.
• Contribute to academic administration, accreditation processes, quality assurance, and institutional development initiatives.
• Organize workshops, seminars, military technology demonstrations, and skill development programs.
• Support placement, industry engagement, and entrepreneurship initiatives related to defence and aerospace sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

Experience

• 15–20 years of combined Military and Industry experience.
• Minimum rank of Colonel (or equivalent) and above from the Armed Forces. Corps: EME /Signals / AAD/ Artillery/ Armoured/ Engineers /Navy Technical Branch/ Airforce Technical Branch
• Must have held at least one Instructor appointment in a Category A Training Establishment during military service.
• Relevant industry experience in defence, aerospace, manufacturing, communications, electronics, systems engineering, or allied sectors will be preferred.

• Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME)
• Corps of Signals
• Army Air Defence (AAD)
• Regiment of Artillery
• Army Education Corps (AEC)

Educational Qualifications

Essential

• B.E./B.Tech. in any of the following disciplines:
• Computer Science Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering

Desirable

• M.E./M.Tech./M.S. in any of the above or allied disciplines.
• Additional qualifications, certifications, or research credentials in defence technologies, strategic studies, systems engineering, cybersecurity, AI, robotics, or emerging technologies will be advantageous.
