Vice President - Supply Chain Management - Valve Manufacturing Industry

Position Title: Vice President Supply Chain Management (VP SCM)

Reporting To: Management / Director

Role Purpose:

The Vice President Supply Chain Management will be responsible for leading and transforming the organizations end-to-end supply chain function, including procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor development, inventory optimization, and supply chain planning specifically within the valve manufacturing industry. The role requires a seasoned SCM leader with strong exposure to valve manufacturing operations, casting procurement, industrial accessories sourcing, and vendor ecosystem management within the engineering and valve sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement SCM strategies aligned with organizational growth and operational objectives.
• Drive supply chain transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Participate in strategic business planning and leadership decision-making.
• Lead procurement activities for castings, forgings, industrial accessories, bought-out components, consumables, and engineering materials related to valve manufacturing.
• Develop sourcing strategies to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and timely availability of materials.
• Monitor market trends, raw material fluctuations, and supplier capabilities within the valve industry.
• Develop and strengthen a robust vendor network specifically for valve components, castings, machining, and industrial accessories.
• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage vendors based on quality, pricing, delivery, and technical capability.
• Build long-term supplier partnerships and alternate sourcing channels to minimize supply risks.
• Ensure optimum inventory levels to support uninterrupted production and customer delivery commitments.
• Drive material planning, forecasting, inventory control, and warehouse optimization initiatives.
• Monitor slow-moving and excess inventory and implement corrective actions.
• Lead cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, alternate sourcing, value engineering, and process improvements.
• Standardize procurement systems and strengthen SCM controls and governance.
• Improve supply chain efficiency through ERP utilization and process automation.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Finance, and Stores teams for seamless operations.
• Ensure alignment between procurement planning and production schedules.
• Support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
• Develop strategies to mitigate risks related to supplier dependency, delivery delays, and market volatility.
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies, audit requirements, and ethical business practices.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering.
• MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain Management or Operations preferred.

Experience:

• 18+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management within the Valve Manufacturing Industry is mandatory.
• Strong exposure to: Valve Industry Procurement, Casting Purchase, Industrial Accessories Sourcing, Vendor Development, Supply Chain Planning, and Inventory Management.
• Experience handling procurement of valve components, castings, machining parts, and engineering materials is essential.
• Proven leadership experience in managing large SCM operations within engineering/manufacturing organizations.
