Head Of Engineering / Lead Full-Stack (React, Real-Time Systems)

About the Role

Hyderabad (Primary) / Canberra (Leadership Hybrid)

Turium AI is building Qale — a real-time, AI-native communication platform designed to replace legacy email and redefine global messaging.

We are approaching Alpha release and are looking for a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead the product through launch and scale to 1M+ users.

This is a builder-first leadership role — you will be directly responsible for architecture, performance, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Qale from Alpha → Public Launch → Scale (1M+ users)
• Own system architecture and delivery across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
• Design and scale real-time systems (WebSockets, event-driven architecture)
• Build and optimise high-performance React applications
• Ensure low latency, high concurrency, and reliability
• Establish engineering standards, code quality, and delivery velocity
  
• Hire and grow a high-performing engineering team in Hyderabad

Required Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Strong background as a senior/principal engineer before leadership
• Proven experience building and scaling production systems (ideally 1M+ users)
• Deep expertise in React (large-scale applications)
• Strong full-stack capability (APIs, backend systems, architecture)
• Experience with real-time technologies (WebSockets, pub/sub, streaming)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, performance, and scalability

Preferred Experience

• Messaging, chat, or collaboration platforms
• WebRTC or real-time communication systems
• AI-integrated or event-driven product environments

• Frontend: React / Modern JavaScript frameworks
• Backend: Event-driven / distributed systems
• Communication: WebSockets / real-time pipelines
• Infrastructure: Cloud-native deployments
• Data: High-volume, real-time data processing
