Build and Lead a Finance Function That Actually Matters

What You Will Own

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee all daily accounting operations, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Manage supplier accounts, contractor settlements, and sub-ledger reconciliations
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports for senior leadership
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning across multiple business units
• Drive financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making

• Ensure full and timely compliance with Ugandan tax laws and statutory obligations including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and withholding tax
• Handle tax notices, objections, assessments, and regulatory correspondence
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and proactively advise senior management on implications
• Maintain clean statutory records across all entities

• Lead statutory audit preparation and coordinate directly with external auditors
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and ensure timely closure of findings
• Maintain financial records in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory standards

• Supervise end-to-end payroll processing including expatriate and local staff payroll
• Manage staff advances, loans, and employee-related financial records
• Ensure payroll compliance with statutory deductions and employment regulations

• Design, implement, and strengthen internal control frameworks across the finance function
• Identify financial and operational risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies
• Drive continuous process improvement and standardization across accounting procedures

• Manage, train, and mentor the on-ground finance team
• Set performance standards and build team capability for long-term operational resilience

What We Are Looking For

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Qualified CA / ACCA / CPA — applications without professional certification will not be reviewed
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• 3–6 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting, taxation, compliance, and reporting
• Proficiency in Tally Prime or a comparable ERP system
• Advanced MS Excel skills including financial modelling, pivot tables, and reporting templates
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills

• Prior experience working in Uganda, East Africa, or another emerging market context
• Familiarity with Ugandan tax regulations, URA compliance processes, and NSSF obligations
• Industry background in construction, infrastructure, real estate, or manufacturing
• Experience managing expatriate payroll and multi-entity consolidation

• High integrity and professional ethics — non-negotiable in a senior finance role
• Comfortable owning decisions independently without heavy organizational support
• Adaptable, resilient, and genuinely open to living and working internationally
• Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger financial picture
