Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee UK financial operations, accounting, reporting, and financial control.

  • Prepare advanced financial models and scenario analysis to support business planning and investment decisions.
  • Analyse financial performance, identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for business improvement.
  • Prepare detailed MIS and financial reports for senior management, investors, and the board. Monitor cash flow, working capital, profitability, revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls, processes, and accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate with UK auditors, tax advisors, accountants, HMRC, banks, and external financial consultants. Support financial due diligence, investment reporting, business expansion, restructuring, and other strategic financial activities.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the finance team while maintaining high standards of accuracy, accountability, and compliance.
  • Provide financial advice and insights to senior management to support strategic and commercial decision-making.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with significant experience in a senior finance management role.
  • Strong hands-on UK market experience is mandatory.
  • Proven experience managing UK taxation and HMRC compliance.
  • Strong practical experience with UK payroll, PAYE, National Insurance, pension contributions, and HMRC payroll requirements.
  • Extensive experience in management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and variance analysis.
  • Strong experience preparing financial reports and presenting financial performance to senior management, investors, and board-level stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, corporation tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing cash flow, working capital, profitability, and financial controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience with financial/accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and financial management systems such as Oracle, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP platforms.
  • Strong experience with Power BI or other financial reporting and business intelligence tools will be an advantage.

  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to independently manage complex financial matters and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

About Company

A comprehensive examination of talent attraction and retention within the audit profession, conducted through a global survey and a series of roundtable discussions, reveals persistent challenges faced by audit firms worldwide. Despite concerted efforts, the profession struggles to attract and retain talent amid declining numbers of entrants.

In collaboration, ACCA and CA ANZ have amassed insights from over 6,500 survey respondents worldwide. Our findings highlight a prevalent concern about individuals' work–life balance, with calls for flexible working arrangements and a focus on remuneration. The perceived inadequacy of remuneration becomes pronounced when viewed in the context of a poor work-life balance, posing a pressing concern for the audit profession.

Empathy and respect in the workplace emerge as important considerations, recognising the multifaceted lives of employees. While audit firms implement various initiatives to address these concerns, the persistence of the challenge signals a necessity for more transformative changes.
