Role purpose
Trade service specialist role is to provide personalized and satisfactory service at the business banking branches through:
- Servicing the customers in terms of execution of documentary trade finance transactions and query management
- Supporting the relationship management team in the overall customer transactions and queries
- Supporting the GTB product WBG and GTB sales BBD team in the global transaction banking and the delivery channel for transaction execution and query management
- Liaising with the internal partners to ensure the completion of transactions and queries
- To manage effectively and efficiently the complex part of trade finance execution
Key accountabilities of the role
- Familiarize yourself about local laws, institutional policies/procedures and international standards conventions/practices like UCP, URC, URR, ISP, ISBP, URDG etc.
- Check the trade documents and assure that they are in line with the implemented international and trade standards and practices (UCP, URC, URR, ISP, ISBP, URDG)
- Identify and monitor actual and potential risk and take proactive measures in order to control bank exposures while reviewing the trade instrument and ensure that all relevant details are congruent with a clean customer application from inception of the transaction to final collection
- Provide efficient solutions to the customers in case of any issue between the customer and importer or exporter
- Efficient coordination with the internal departments CAD, Legal, Sharia, Operations, FI Compliance, Business and Treasury
- Be fully aware of ADIBs GTB products and support the product teams in reviewing newly developed cash and trade products
- Do the required signature verification according to ADIBs policies and procedures
- Provide direct front-desk customer assistance; directing and providing information to customers
- Raise customers concerns and facilitate the resolution of customer complaints
- Do proactive cross selling for GTB products
- Assure proper handling of documents and check endorsements prior to delivery of trade documents as per ADIBs policy and procedures especially trade policies
- Make sure that customer instructions are completed and delivered effectively and efficiently in accordance with the set turnaround time
- Provide the customer with advisory services related to trade and assure smooth processing of a transaction

- MIS - quality and reliability of reports, weekly and monthly
- Provide inputs to GTB sales team in structuring trade facilities based on clients interactions and requirements
- Assist the line manager in all activities required to ensure that the risk involved in designated product portfolio is monitored and mitigated; this risk will involve technical workability, compliance and AML risk, documentary risk, loss of income as well as ensuring that all transactions are well accommodated according to all related approvals from the designated approving bodies with all deferrals or exceptions approvals as per ADIBs trade policies
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
Specialist skills / technical knowledge required for this role
- Comprehensive knowledge of trade products including all trade financing products offered by ADIB
- Familiarity with ADIBs products
- Advanced presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to initiate, influence and lead change
- Islamic trade finance products and services
- Excellent cross selling and service skills
- Understanding of online banking for corporate and public sector
- In-depth knowledge of the local UAE trade finance market
- Good problem-solving skills
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
Previous experience
- Bachelors/Masters degree
- Highly preferable to be certified CDCS or CITF
- Minimum of 3 years of trade finance experience
- Experience in turning strategic concepts into defined business outcomes
- Fostering and influencing senior stakeholder relationships with necessary departments and stakeholders responsible for delivering the product proposition (both internal and external)
- Be able to recognize and make recommendations based on existing or expected market trends
- Structuring of trade facilities
