Intern - Data Scientist, Affle

Position Description:
We are looking for a Data Science Intern who is passionate about applying data-driven techniques to solve real-world business problems in the digital advertising ecosystem. The intern will work closely with senior data scientists and engineers on projects involving predictive modeling, audience segmentation, fraud detection, and campaign optimization. As part of our Data Science team, youll work on high-impact analytical and machine learning problems that power Affles advertising and audience intelligence systems.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models for business use cases like CTR prediction, campaign optimization, and audience profiling.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to extract insights from large-scale datasets.
• Support in feature engineering and data cleaning using Python, SQL, and Spark.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics (AUC, precision, recall, etc.).
• Automate data pipelines and contribute to model monitoring & reporting dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams product, engineering, and analytics to integrate models into production systems.
• Document methodologies, experiments, and insights clearly for internal use.
• Drive innovation by experimenting with transformers, GNNs, RL/agentic systems, and other frontier ML techniques.
• 
  Identify opportunities for automation and optimisation using ML across the ad delivery ecosystem.
  

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of statistical concepts (probability, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.) & Proficiency in Python libraries.
• Familiarity with ML & DL algorithms regression, classification, clustering, ANN, CNN, RNN, LSTM etc.
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying large datasets.
• Understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Bonus: Knowledge of Adtech Industry, NLP, Gen AI concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving ability and strong business intuition.
• Ability to translate unsolved business problems into ML solutions.
• Ownership mindset with experience taking projects from design ? production.
  

Preferred (Good To Have)

• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Google BigQuery, AWS, or Azure).
