Job Title: Plant Accountant

Reports to: Finance Controller- Africa

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail?oriented Plant Accountant to oversee the finance and accounting functions for our Sesame Seed Processing Plant in Lagos, Nigeria. This role is a key position within Agrocorps expanding edible nuts business across 7 African countries and will be responsible for managing the overall finance operations for Nigeria, in addition to supporting the plants day?to?day financial activities.

The role requires a hands-on finance professional who can ensure accurate financial control, support operational efficiency and deliver timely MIS for local management and global headquarters and who is willing to move to Nigeria.

• 
  Maintain books of accounts and day-to-day accounting entries
• Prepare and manage invoices, bills, vouchers, and payment records
• Track production costs, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze cost variances and recommend cost-saving measures.
• Maintain records of raw material purchases and finished goods inventory
• Ensure proper valuation of sesame seeds and by-products.
• Bank reconciliation and cash/bank management
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and report variances.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Assist in audits and ensure compliance with company policies
• Handle any other accounting-related tasks as required
• Maintain accurate records for commodity purchases, sales, and stock movements

  Get Hired
  Track physical stock at warehouses and reconcile with system records
• Handle purchase and sales contracts, ensuring proper documentation and compliance
• Calculate landed cost, margins, and profitability for each trade
• Record and monitor forex transactions related to imports/exports
• Coordinate with shipping and logistics teams for timely documentation and payment processing
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulatory requirements
• Assist in monitoring credit limits and exposure for counterparties

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• 25 years of experience in accounting (preferably in food processing or Agri Trading Industry)
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management
