Linux Administrator

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with strong expertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Linux systems management, database administration, and performance tuning. This role involves managing and optimizing Azure cloud-hosted Linux servers, ensuring database performance, and supporting development teams in resolving complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Azure cloud-hosted Linux servers, including installation, configuration, patch management, and security updates.
• Perform MySQL and PostgreSQL database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, backups, restores, and upgrades.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions for MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and server performance adjustments.
• Implement security policies, ensure compliance with best practices, and manage database user roles and permissions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including slow queries, locking issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Automate routine system and database management tasks using shell scripts, Ansible, or other automation tools.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to implement database solutions and assist in CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct regular database health checks, ensuring proper indexing, partitioning, and storage management.
• Manage and support database migrations, both on-premise and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of proven experience as a Linux System Administrator managing distributions like RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu.
• Strong hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and replication.
• Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Bash, Python).
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies for MySQL/PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, SSH) and troubleshooting.
