Vice President/ Senior Vice President - Financial Sponsor Group - Anand Rathi Investment Banking

This mid-senior role is part of Financial Sponsor Group (FSG) within the Investment Banking team and will focus on coverage of Private Equity (PE) firms, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds, Venture Capital funds, and other Financial Sponsors across India and cross-border markets.
The candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with financial sponsors, driving deal origination and supporting distribution of investment banking opportunities across sponsor networks.
The role involves identifying opportunities across sponsor portfolios and facilitating engagement with potential investors and strategic buyers for:
- M&A
- Buy-side and Sell-side advisory
- ECM
- Structured finance
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sponsor Coverage & Relationship Management
Develop and maintain relationships with financial sponsors operating in India, including:
- PEs
- VCs
- Sovereign wealth funds
- Pension funds
- Development Financial Institutions
- Act as the primary relationship banker for sponsors
- Understand investment mandates, sector focus, capital deployment strategy, and portfolio companies of each sponsor.
- Provide sponsors with proprietary deal flow and investment opportunities.
2. Deal Origination
Identify and originate investment banking mandates involving financial sponsors and their portfolio companies, including:
Buy-side:
- Identify acquisition opportunities aligned with sponsor investment thesis

- Pitch buy-side advisory mandates
- Facilitate introductions and discussions with potential targets
Sell-side:
- Work with portfolio companies to initiate structured sale processes
- Identify strategic buyers and secondary sponsors
Capital Raising:
- Identify equity and structured capital for sponsor-backed companies
- Coordinate with ECM and private placement teams to facilitate capital raising discussions
Sponsor Exits:
Support sponsors in evaluating exit opportunities including:
- IPO exits
- Strategic sales
- Secondary PE transactions
- Block trades and stake sales
3. Distribution & Investor Connectivity
Leverage sponsor relationships to support distribution of investment banking opportunities, including:
- Connecting sponsor investors to relevant buy-side opportunities
- Facilitating discussions between portfolio companies and potential investors
- Supporting capital raising and strategic transaction opportunities through sponsor networks
4. Cross-Product Coordination
Work closely with internal teams including:
- Sector Coverage Bankers
- M&A Advisory
- ECM - IPOs and pre-IPO placements for sponsor-backed companies
- Structured Finance to share leads and facilitate engagement with relevant clients and investors.
5. Portfolio Company Engagement
Engage with portfolio companies of financial sponsors to identify potential advisory opportunities in:
- M&A
- Capital raising
- IPO preparation
- Such opportunities will be coordinated with and referred to the relevant sector coverage bankers for further engagement and execution support.

Experience : 8+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity coverage or corporate finance
Strong experience in:
- M&A
- Private equity transactions
- Capital markets
- Proven track record of originating sponsor deals
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of private equity investment cycles
- Ability to maintain C-suite level relationships with sponsors
Preferred Experience:

- Top investment banks
- Private equity firms
