Manager - Primary Logistics/Transportation - FMCG

Description:

Responsible for driving end-to-end transportation and logistics operations across a Pan-India network, ensuring optimal service levels, cost efficiency, and a robust transportation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage primary transportation operations ensuring timely dispatches and truck availability

• Lead freight spend management, annual budgeting, and cost optimization initiatives

• Drive contracting and commercial negotiations with transporters

• Develop and implement transport strategies, route optimization & multimodal solutions

• Monitor logistics KPIs on-time delivery, placement index, damages, and cost metrics

• Ensure statutory compliance and adherence to safety standards

• Analyze logistics data and drive continuous improvement initiatives

• Build and manage vendor/transport partner ecosystem

• Collaborate with sales, warehouse, finance, and operations teams

• Drive adoption of TMS, SAP, and analytics-driven decision-making

Candidate Profile :

• Full-Time MBA (mandatory) from reputed institutes

• 6 to 10 years post-MBA experience in logistics/transportation

• Strong experience in primary logistics, freight negotiations & spend management

• Exposure to consumer goods/FMCG industry preferred

• Strong analytical skills (Advanced Excel) & ERP/SAP exposure

• Proven stakeholder management & execution capability

• Excellent communication & negotiation skills
