Operations Manager - Supply Chain & Manufacturing - FMCG

Candidate Profile:

• Engineering graduate with MBA/PGDM in Operations, Supply Chain or a related discipline from premiere institutes like NITIE, SPJIMR Mumbai, SJMSOM, VGSOM, DOMSIITD, DOMSIITM etc.
• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience after MBA.
• Experience in FMCG, Consumer Durables, Pharma or other product/manufacturing companies.
• Experience in production planning, supply planning, manufacturing operations or central operations planning.
• Exposure to manufacturing plants and/or contract manufacturing environments preferred.
• Understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, RM/PM/FG inventory and demand fulfilment.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Supply Planning:

• Develop monthly, quarterly and annual manufacturing plans across manufacturing locations.
• Translate demand requirements into executable production and supply plans.
• Ensure demand fulfilment as per agreed service levels.
• Monitor production plans versus actual output and address gaps.
• Analyse production trends and optimise capacity utilisation.
• Reconcile demand and production data for forward inventory planning.

RM / PM & Inventory Management:

• Plan raw material and packaging material requirements based on production needs.
• Monitor RM, PM and finished-goods inventory.
• Identify excess, slow-moving and aging inventory.
• Drive liquidation of aging RM and consumables.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to improve inventory turns and minimise working capital.

Capacity & Manufacturing Planning:

• Evaluate manufacturing capacity and capability requirements.
• Support capacity planning across own manufacturing facilities and external manufacturing partners.
• Identify opportunities for low-cost capacity/capability development.
• Drive efficient and agile supply planning.

Portfolio & Change Management:

• Coordinate product and design changes across manufacturing locations.
• Enable smooth portfolio transitions and production changeovers.
• Coordinate manufacturing requirements for new products, designs and value additions.
• Ensure timely execution of portfolio changes with relevant stakeholders.

New Product Development:

• Support NPD activities from an operations and manufacturing perspective.
• Coordinate costing, development, sampling, trials and execution.
• Work with R&D, Design, Manufacturing, Procurement and Supply Chain teams for timely launches.
• Support scale-up and transition of new products into regular manufacturing.

Contract Manufacturing:

• Coordinate production planning and execution with external manufacturing partners.
• Monitor capacity, production plans, material availability and service levels.
• Resolve planning and execution issues with manufacturing partners.
• Support onboarding and development of new manufacturing partners.

Order & Demand Management:

• Coordinate order requirements with production and supply planning.
• Ensure alignment between demand, production availability and order fulfilment.
• Monitor service-level gaps and drive timely resolution.

Cost Optimisation:

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through optimum RM planning and supply planning.
• Evaluate alternate manufacturing capacities and capabilities.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving productivity and reducing operational costs.

Analytics & Process Improvement:

• Develop and maintain operational and planning dashboards.
• Analyse production, inventory, capacity and demand data.
• Drive process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Support implementation and enhancement of manufacturing systems.
• Advanced Excel/VBA and Power BI exposure will be an advantage.
