Job Description
As a Canada Tax Analyst, you will assist in the preparation and review of Canadian tax returns for corporations and partnerships. You'll work closely with senior tax professionals to provide tax planning and compliance services to clients in various industries. Your role will support tax efficiency and compliance.
What you will do
You will gather financial data, prepare tax work papers, and assist in the preparation of corporate tax returns. You will research tax issues and help develop tax planning strategies. You will also support client communication regarding tax matters.
Key Responsibility
- Assist in the preparation and review of Canadian corporate income tax returns (T2).
- Gather and analyze financial data, including financial statements, general ledger entries, and other relevant documents.
- Prepare tax work papers and supporting schedules.
- Research Canadian tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provisions and tax footnote disclosures.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and assist in the development of tax strategies.
- Communicate with clients regarding tax-related matters, under the guidance of senior tax professionals.
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation.
- Stay updated on changes to Canadian tax laws and regulations through professional development.
- Collaborate with other tax team members to provide comprehensive tax services.
Required Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in Canadian corporate tax.
- Knowledge of Canadian corporate tax laws and regulations, including the Income Tax Act.
- Experience with tax preparation software such as TaxPrep or Cantax.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax forms, including T2.
