JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Financial Statement Analyst

DEPARTMENT: Financial Analysis 

REPORTING TO: Team Leader

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To perform financial analyses on multifamily/commercial properties, which secure the mortgage loans originated as well as serviced by Berkadia utilizing financial statements, rent rolls and internal & third-party information systems.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Duties may include but are not limited to):

• Review and input financial statements (e.g., income & expense statements) and rent rolls ((i.e., listing of all tenants and various information regarding leases) from commercial properties (such as hotels, apartments, office buildings, etc.) into a database system. 
• Should involve reaching out to the borrower for additional information, clarifications on variances identified at the time of the analysis.
• Will be responsible for calculating and analyzing certain ratios regarding the performance of various properties
• Must be able to identify certain variances in the calculations and provide detailed and exhaustive analysis comments regarding the performance of the property.
• Will need to interpret loan documents to determine compliance requirements of borrowers.
• Must be able to assess risk associated with the collateral, identify changes to the risk and comment intelligently on the same.
• Must be able to look at the loan and collateral end to end while performing an analysis and take appropriate action as required by guidelines.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Management.
• Will be responsible for preparing certain reports in Excel and Word.

EDUCATION AND/OR TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience/Education/Technical Skills Required:

• Minimum of Graduate in Commerce with at least 1 year experience. Prior experience in the finance/accounting sector is preferable.
• Must have familiarity with financial statements and accounting basics with a strong mathematical aptitude.
• Must be proficient in English, in both verbal and written communication.
• Must be analytical and display ability to research and resolve problems.
• Must be PC literate in MS windows environment with strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Must be able to think outside the box in researching problems and responding to customers.
• Must be able to read and comprehend loan documents.

• Exhibits an appropriate sense of urgency in managing responsibilities.

 CONDITIONS OF WORK:

The Financial Statement Analyst will be expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime when requested to meet business objectives. Travel may be required from time to time.
