About the Role:
We are strengthening our Intelligent Industry Smart Manufacturing practice and are looking for a Manager who can operate as a trusted advisor to manufacturing clients across discrete, process and hybrid industries. This is a hands-on consulting role: you will shape and sell transformation agendas, then stay engaged through solution design and implementation.
The role sits at the intersection of manufacturing operations, digital technology and data. You will work with smart manufacturing teams to define the digital manufacturing roadmap, build the business case, and deliver measurable outcomes across OEE, quality, cost, throughput, safety and sustainability. You will also contribute to practice building offer development, assets, partner relationships and capability growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transformation Strategy & Advisory:
- Run maturity assessments, digital manufacturing diagnostics and plant-level current-state reviews across single-site and multi-site networks.
- Develop end-to-end Industry 4.0 / smart manufacturing transformation strategies and multi-year roadmaps, including target operating model, technology architecture and change agenda.
- Build robust business cases and value cases quantified benefits, investment profile, ROI, TCO and benefit-realisation tracking.
- Advise clients on ITOT convergence strategy: reference architectures, unified namespace, data contextualisation, edge-to-cloud patterns, and OT cybersecurity considerations (IEC 62443, Purdue model).
- Shape Physical AI and industrial AI agendas computer vision for quality, predictive maintenance, autonomous mobile robots, cobots, digital twin and simulation, generative AI for shopfloor and engineering use cases.
2. Solution Development & Presales:
- Lead and write proposals, RFP/RFI responses and proactive pitches solution narrative, delivery approach, effort estimation, commercial construct and risk positioning.
- Own client orals and workshops; present to plant heads, manufacturing IT leaders, COOs and CXOs.
- Develop reusable practice assets: point-of-view papers, offer collateral, accelerators, demos, benchmarks and reference architectures.
- Work with technology and hyperscaler partners on joint solutions, and support partner-led pursuits and co-selling.
3. Solution Implementation & Delivery:
- Lead MES/MOM and smart factory implementation and rollout programmes requirements definition, functional design, fit-gap, vendor evaluation and selection, PoC-to-scale, UAT and hypercare.
- Drive multi-site deployment and templating: global design template, site adoption, localisation and scale governance.
- Manage programme delivery scope, plan, commercials, risks, quality and cross-functional teams spanning consulting, engineering and client resources.
- Own the shopfloor-to-top-floor integration agenda across MES, ERP, PLM, SCADA, historians, LIMS, WMS, APS and asset management systems.

- Embed change management, capability building and adoption so that benefits are sustained after go-live.
4. Practice & People:
- Coach and mentor consultants and senior consultants; contribute to recruitment, training and capability development.
- Manage account relationships and identify follow-on opportunities within existing clients.
- Contribute to thought leadership, external speaking and industry-forum participation.
Experience & Domain Expertise:
- Overall experience 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations, digital manufacturing or manufacturing technology consulting.
- Consulting background Substantial experience with a consulting firm in India Big 4, global strategy or technology consulting, or the consulting arm of an engineering/IT services organisation. Client-facing advisory experience is essential.
- Functional domain depth Demonstrable expertise across smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Physical AI / industrial AI, and ITOT convergence.
- Manufacturing grounding Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, plant operations, lean and Six Sigma, TPM, quality systems and manufacturing KPIs. Prior shopfloor or plant experience is an advantage.
- Industry exposure Experience in one or more of automotive, industrial and heavy equipment, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, chemicals, CPG, metals or energy and utilities.
- End-to-end lifecycle Proven track record of taking initiatives from strategy through solution design, presales and into implementation not strategy alone, and not delivery alone.
- Scale Experience on at least one large, multi-site or global smart manufacturing / MES programme.
Technical & Platform Knowledge:
1. MES / MOM Platforms:
Hands-on or strong functional knowledge of at least two leading MES/MOM platforms, with the ability to run a credible platform evaluation and selection:
- Siemens Opcenter Execution (Discrete, Process, Pharma, Semiconductor), Opcenter APS, Insights Hub / MindSphere.
- Dassault Syst- mes DELMIA Apriso, DELMIA Ortems, 3DEXPERIENCE manufacturing.
- PTC ThingWorx, Kepware, Windchill, Vuforia.
- Other relevant platforms Rockwell Plex / FactoryTalk, AVEVA MES and System Platform, SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud, Honeywell, Tulip, Critical Manufacturing, GE Proficy.
2. Architecture, Data & AI:
- ISA-95 and ISA-88 standards; MTConnect, OPC UA, MQTT/Sparkplug B and unified namespace patterns.
- Industrial IoT and edge platforms; historians (PI System, Aspen, Canary); SCADA/PLC/DCS integration concepts.
- Manufacturing data platforms and analytics on Azure, AWS or GCP; Databricks or Snowflake exposure is a plus.
- Digital twin, simulation, AI/ML for manufacturing (predictive quality and maintenance, vision inspection), robotics and automation.
- Integration with ERP (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle) and PLM; awareness of OT cybersecurity frameworks (IEC 62443, NIST).
- Sustainability and energy-management use cases in manufacturing are a plus.
Educational Qualifications:
- Essential Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Chemical or Computer Science).
- Essential MBA / PGDM, preferably full-time, from a reputed institute Operations, Strategy, Manufacturing or Technology Management preferred.
- Desirable Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP or SAFe, TOGAF, MES/MOM platform certifications, or cloud/AI credentials.
Behavioural & Leadership Skills:
- Communication Excellent verbal and written communication; able to translate between plant operations, engineering and business audiences.
- Presentation Strong storyboarding and presentation skills; confident presenting to CXO and plant leadership, and facilitating workshops.
- Stakeholder management Proven ability to build trust with client stakeholders from shopfloor supervisors to C-suite, and to manage competing priorities across functions.
- Interpersonal skills Collaborative, culturally aware, effective in cross-geography and matrixed teams.
- Ownership and structure Hands-on, hypothesis-driven and structured problem solver; comfortable with ambiguity and able to work independently.
- Leadership Experience leading and mentoring small teams and managing multiple parallel workstreams.
Location & Travel:
- Base location: Mumbai or Pune preferred. Candidates able to relocate to either location will be considered.
- Willingness to travel to client plant locations in India and internationally, as required by project needs.
