JOB SUMMARY: As a Software Development Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in developing code and independently solving problems to advance our next-gen solutions. Our recommendation engine creates personalized home page experiences for millions globally, adapting to real-time user interests. Leveraging ML algorithms and A/B testing, we continuously refine our recommendations. ABOUT THE TEAM: At Disney+ Hotstar, were on a mission to deliver delightful experiences to our 500+ million customers across the globe. Our technology spans 25+ countries, with more on the horizon. The Customer Experience (CEX) team manages the entire customer journey, from signup to personalized content viewing on a wider range of consumer devices. Our fast and intuitive experiences cater to different user segments, including mobile, tablet, and living room viewers. Backed by distributed services, we innovate through experimentation and data-driven decisions.
The Discovery Team focuses on revolutionizing content discovery. The aim is to provide users with an intuitive and personalized experience, enabling seamless exploration and enrichment of their interests. Collaborating with developers, data scientists, designers, and curators, we enhance algorithms and recommendation systems. By analyzing user preferences and behaviors, we deliver immersive content discovery.
REPORTING TO: Senior Engineering Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Spearhead the development of cutting-edge software solutions using a diverse range of technologies from Big data frameworks like Spark, Flink, Kafka, etc to ML frameworks like TensorFlow
• Build stream processing pipelines to compute near real-time features that will help us serve real-time recommendations for our users
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using best practices, conduct unit testing, and participate in code reviews
• 
  You will actively participate and contribute to design discussions
• Demonstrate ownership by taking accountability for the execution and quality of your deliverables
• Collaborate with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deploy high-quality software solutions that meet business objectives
• Guide and mentor SDE1s and interns on functional attributes and domain knowledge
  

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

• Strong coding skills (Python or Java or Golang or Scala)
• Experience with Spark or other Big Data frameworks
• Experience working with distributed storage systems
• Experience with developing end-to-end machine learning pipelines is preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
