Position:Senior Portfolio Manager / Portfolio Manager - Subnational Climate Action

Role Overview

The Senior Portfolio Manager will be a part of the Subnational Climate Action Team at Energiva Ventures, managing a significant investment portfolio focusing on the intersection of economic growth and climate action at the Subnational Level. This role requires a sophisticated blend of economic expertise, cross-cutting climate knowledge across mitigation sectors, and an understanding of the workings and priorities of subnational governments.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

1.Strategic Leadership & Advisory

Subnational Strategy Development: Act as the primary architect of climate-led growth strategies at the state level, ensuring alignment with national and state decarbonization and net-zero goals and the states economic targets.

Policy Translation: Translating high-level climate and economic insights into actionable policy recommendations and professional advice to state governments on emerging climate finance trends.

Corporate Initiatives: Lead cross-cutting projects with multiple partners across select subnational jurisdictions.

2.Portfolio & Grant Management

Investment Lifecycle: Personally oversee a significant portfolio covering areas including but not limited to climate policy, clean/green growth, climate finance, clean energy, industrial decarbonization, and clean mobility.

Due Diligence & Risk: Conduct rigorous feasibility analyses and due diligence on investment proposals to ensure the logical robustness of project outcomes and the theory of change.

Performance Monitoring: Implement active Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) of ongoing projects to ensure achievement of project milestones and targets, and initiate decisive course correction if targets are not met.

Grant Governance: Lead the development of grant agreements, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure seamless fund flow and accountability.

3.Stakeholder Engagement & Partner Relations

Government Liaison: Build and maintain deep-rooted relationships with state-level officials, regulators, and public agencies to facilitate policy adoption.

Multi-Funder Coordination: Design and execute strategies for pooled Technical Assistance and Fund Financing facilities, bringing together the private sector and civil society.

Network Cultivation: Maintain an active map of experts in the ESG, green taxonomy, and capital market sectors to keep the portfolio at the cutting edge.

4.Research & Thought Leadership

Analysis: Produce high-quality research on macro-prudential regulations and climate actions to inform the program design and external stakeholders.

Policy Communication: Translate complex climate and economic research/policies into simple, compelling narratives.

Advocacy: Collaborate with Communications teams to develop thought leadership materials that scale up the programs impact.

Qualifications & Experience

1.Technical Requirements

Education: Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Climate or Environmental Sciences/Management, Public Policy, Development Studies, MBA, or similar from a premium University/Institute.

Experience: 8-12 years for SPM and 3-7 years for PM of professionalexperience across government, think tanks, or the private sector, specifically focusing on climate change and Economic Development. Deep knowledge of climate policy, finance, green growth/clean.

Analytical Prowess: Proficiency in data analytics, research innovation, and impact measurement.

2.Behavioural & Leadership Competencies

Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence and unite diverse groupsfrom senior government bureaucrats to grassroots NGO leadersaround a shared purpose.

Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; must be a master of the simple explanation.
