Job Title: Senior Data & Governance Engineer

Location: Remote

Contract Duration: 6 months (extendable)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data & Governance Engineer with 6+ years of experience in designing, building, and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions. The successful candidate will be able to work independently while collaborating closely with onshore teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures across cloud environments.

This role requires strong expertise in data management, governance, and quality frameworks, alongside hands-on technical capability in modern cloud-based data engineering platforms.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Data Management & Governance (Mandatory)

• 
  Strong expertise in data management, enterprise data modelling, data governance, and data quality assessment practices
• Solid understanding of DAMA-DMBOK subject areas with hands-on experience applying them
• DAMA certification (required)
• Ability to implement and maintain data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices

Data Engineering & Architecture

• Proven experience building and managing scalable data pipelines on cloud-based platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with ETL development, data integration, and real-time data streaming
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages
• Experience working with modern data engineering tools and frameworks such as Databricks and Apache Spark
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and data lake architectures
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-based data and analytics architectures

• Ability to automate data preparation and integration tasks
• Experience implementing best practices for data governance, security, and compliance
• Hands-on experience with automated testing, monitoring, and validation of data pipelines

• Ability to work closely with data scientists, IT teams, and business stakeholders
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within distributed and cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
• Experience with DevOps practices in data engineering, including CI/CD pipelines
