Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified and proactive Safety Officer / EHS Officer responsible for implementing and monitoring all health, safety, and environmental practices at the plant. The candidate should have strong knowledge of statutory compliance, industrial safety standards, and safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify unsafe acts and unsafe working conditions and take corrective actions.
  
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across the plant.
  
• Prepare and implement Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  
• Ensure electrical safety, fire safety, machine guarding, and material handling safety.
  
• Conduct safety induction and training programs for new employees and contract workers.
  
  
• Organize safety awareness campaigns during Safety Week and other initiatives.
  
• Display and maintain safety signages and posters across the plant.
  
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.
  
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures.
  
• Maintain accident records and submit monthly safety reports to management.
  
• Ensure timely reporting of notifiable accidents to statutory authorities.
  
• Coordinate with local emergency services when required.
  
• Conduct mock drills (fire drill, emergency evacuation, etc.).
  
• Ensure availability and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment and PPE.
  
• Develop and implement the On-site Emergency Plan.
  
• Monitor high-risk activities such as hot work, work at height, confined space entry, and electrical maintenance.
  
• Conduct safety briefings before commencement of work.
  
• Verify contractor compliance with work permit system and safety standards.
  
• Monitor hazardous waste disposal as per statutory norms.
  
• Ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals.

• Ensure implementation of ergonomic practices and industrial hygiene standards.
  
• Drive initiatives to reduce workplace accidents and improve safety culture.
  

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Knowledge of statutory requirements and safety management systems.
  
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and compliance.
  
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 standards.
  
• Strong incident investigation and problem-solving skills.
  
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
  
• Strong coordination and communication abilities.
  

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety / Environmental Health & Safety.
  
• Certification in Safety (Mandatory as per Factory Act, if applicable).
