Operations Manager Pulp & Paper / Molded Fiber Manufacturing (Wet End + Plant Operations)

Role Summary

We are hiring an Operations Manager to own end-to-end factory operations for our molded fiber manufacturing setup. This role is responsible for daily production output, manpower & shift management, on-time dispatch readiness, coordination with QC and Maintenance, and continuous improvement. Strong exposure to Pulp & Paper / Wet End / Stock Preparation is required to drive stability and reduce quality rejections.

Key Responsibilities

A) End-to-End Operations (Primary)

• Own daily production plan vs actual across shifts; ensure output targets are met safely and consistently.
  
• Lead shift operations: manpower planning, shift scheduling, discipline, training, and performance management of supervisors/operators.
  
• Ensure on-time dispatch readiness by coordinating with Stores, Packing, and Production planning (OTIF mindset).
  
• Run daily review meetings and MIS reporting: production, downtime, rejections, consumption, and action closure.
  
• 
  Drive productivity improvement and cost control: reduce wastage, control conversion cost, and improve overall efficiency.
  
• Implement and sustain systems: SOP adherence, checklists, work instructions, line clearance, housekeeping, and 5S.
  

B) Process Stability & Quality Improvement (Secondary but Important)

• Stabilize wet-end process by controlling key parameters: pulp consistency, freeness/CSF, pH, temperature, agitation/mixing, drainage, and foaming.
  
• Reduce rejection, scrap, and rework using structured problem-solving (RCA/5-Why/Fishbone) and CAPA implementation.
  
• Coordinate with QC Head to ensure consistent product quality and compliance to internal standards.
  

C) Maintenance & Downtime Control

• Coordinate with Maintenance Head to reduce breakdowns and improve OEE.
  
• Ensure preventive maintenance adherence and quick corrective action during breakdowns.
  
• Track downtime reasons and ensure root cause closure with follow-ups.
  

D) Continuous Improvement

• Lead Lean/Kaizen/TPM initiatives to improve yield, cycle time, uptime, and cost.
  
• Standardize best practices across all machines and shifts; drive process discipline.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 6–15 years experience in production/operations in Pulp & Paper / wet-end / stock preparation / paper-based manufacturing (molded fiber preferred).
  
• Strong people leadership: shift handling, manpower planning, supervisor management.
  
• Hands-on operational mindset: output, discipline, downtime control, and on-time readiness.
  
• Good understanding of wet-end parameters (consistency, freeness/CSF, refining/stock prep, drainage, foaming) and ability to troubleshoot.
  
• Exposure to Lean/Kaizen/5S/TPM and basic OEE tracking.
  
• Strong communication and coordination skills across departments.
  

Education

Graduate / Diploma / B.Tech (Engineering preferred). MBA (Operations) is a plus.
