Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive AML/KYC Manager to lead Transfer Agency, Institutional Banking and Wealth Management AML/KYC Operations. The Manager will oversee AML/KYC assessments and refresh activities, ensure investor accounts are appropriately reviewed, and maintain risk profiles in accordance with applicable regulatory standards, internal policies, and client-specific requirements. The role requires strong operational leadership, sound financial crime compliance knowledge, and the ability to deliver accurate, timely, and consistent outcomes across account opening and maintenance activities.
Location: Bangalore/Hyderabad, India.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and manage the AML/KYC team responsible for investor account opening, periodic refresh, and account maintenance reviews.
- Manage a team of approximately 10–20 AML/KYC analysts and senior analysts, with responsibility for work allocation, capacity planning, quality, performance, and development.
- Allocate work, monitor productivity and quality, and ensure assessments are completed within established service-level timelines.
- Coach and mentor team members, support performance management, and promote a collaborative and compliance-focused culture.
Documentation & Compliance Management
- Oversee the tracking and resolution of pending AML/KYC documentation for investor accounts, fund promoters, and complex legal entities.
- Review escalated files and support the team in identifying appropriate documentary evidence, ownership information, risk factors, and due diligence requirements.
- Ensure documentation is complete, current, appropriately approved, and maintained in accordance with regulatory, internal, and client-specific standards.
Query & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise the resolution of AML/KYC inquiries from clients, investors, fund administrators, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure responses are timely, accurate, well documented, and aligned with compliance requirements and agreed operating procedures.
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues and coordinate with compliance, quality, and client teams to achieve timely resolution.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit SupportEnsure team procedures remain aligned with applicable AML/KYC regulations, financial crime prevention policies, internal standards, and client-specific requirements.
- Lead preparation for internal reviews, client reviews, and regulatory or external audits, including collation of evidence and remediation tracking.
- Monitor exceptions, quality findings, and control gaps, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed within agreed timeframes.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate AML/KYC operational reports for clients, investors, and internal leadership within required timeframes.
- Monitor volumes, ageing, quality, productivity, and service-level performance, and communicate key risks, trends, and required actions.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve workflow efficiency, quality, standardization, and risk management across AML/KYC operations.
- Identify process gaps and recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable improvements in coordination with relevant stakeholders
Experience/Qualifications/Certification:
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in AML/KYC, compliance operations, fund administration, transfer agency, or a related financial services environment, including at least 2–3 years of demonstrated team- leadership or people-management experience and responsibilities
- Bachelors degree in business, accounting, finance, law, or an equivalent discipline. ACAMS or an equivalent AML qualification is preferable
- In-depth understanding of AML regulations, customer and investor due diligence, risk assessment, beneficial ownership, and financial crime prevention practices.
- Strong understanding of how AML/KYC requirements apply to investor onboarding, periodic refresh, account maintenance, and transfer agency operations.
