Head of Operations: Blast Furnace
Proposed Designation: General Manager
Reporting to: President (Works)
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth Plant Operations, i.e., Availabilty-99%
- Optimum blowing rate at MBF to get better fuel rate (Blast parameter monitoring).
- Ensure availability of Coke and other Raw materials with desired properties by effective coordination with Raw Materials and Procurement Departments.
- Refractory and Cooling system management to enhance life of refractory.

- Provide skill-based training to increase of manpower productivity.
- Explore opportunities for mechanization of routine and high-risk activities.
- Recruitment of desired skilled manpower to manage & upgrade technology.
- Control of RM Quantity as per budget. (Burden monitoring & control)
- Identification & correction of unsafe condition, unsafe act and near-misses.
- Productivity increase (Identification & Implementation of Improvement Projects)
- Adopt alternative technology / processes.
- Carry-out RCA for major failures and implement CAPA.
- Ensure Operation at high top pressure & Dry GCP system
- Maximize PCI to industry benchmark levels for cost control and productivity.
- Target ZERO wastages by recycling of process generated waste.
- Work towards reduction of Operational consumable costs.
- Ensure Pig Iron surface quality for better customer satisfaction.
- Implement Green Tech initiatives to reduce Carbon Foot print.
- On time production of grades as per market requirement.
- Maintain grade of PI as per requirement.
- Explore and plan usage of alternate fuel like CBM for cost reduction and lowering of C-foot print.
