About The Role
The AVP/VP, Strategic Initiatives Climate Innovation will be a core member of IIXs Strategic Initiatives team, driving forward the next frontier of climate impact. This role calls for an entrepreneurial leader with deep expertise in climate finance and sustainability, who can design, incubate, and scale cutting-edge financial and advisory solutions across the Global South.
You Will Lead Strategy, Incubation, And Cross-functional Execution To

• Develop new climate-aligned products and advisory services
• Integrate climate metrics, data, and insights into existing tools and platforms
• Catalyze partnerships and opportunities that link climate action with gender equality and inclusive finance
  

The role will involve deep engagement across emerging markets, especially in Southeast and South Asia, to catalyze inclusive climate action in partnership with corporates, governments, multilateral institutions, and philanthropic actors. With a strong understanding of the climate finance landscape, you will help IIX go deeper in areas such as nature-based solutions (NbS), carbon markets, climate risk analytics, and adaptation financewhile applying a gender-lens to everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Innovation & Incubation

• Lead development and pilot testing of new climate-aligned initiatives at IIX such as nature-based solutions (NbS) fund, carbon finance, MSME resilience, and people-centric green transition strategies.
• Enhance existing IIX platforms with climate depth (illustrative):
• IIX Values: Integrate climate adaptation, carbon mitigation, and NbS metrics into the verification framework.
• IIX Intelligence: Expand climate and environmental datasets, build risk and resilience insights, and climate-ESG benchmarking.
• Orange Bond: Support integration of climate outcomes into use-of-proceeds frameworks and investor engagement.
• Identify scalable, data-driven innovations at the intersection of climate, gender, and inclusive finance.
  

Business Development & Partnerships

• Drive new business opportunities for climate and sustainability-focused products and advisory services.
• Lead proposal development for climate-aligned funding and partnerships with DFIs, governments, corporates, and philanthropies.
• Represent IIX in global climate finance, ESG, and other such forums to build strategic visibility and networks.
• Ability to analyze complex industry trends and organizational needs, translating them into practical strategies and initiatives
  

Country & Regional Engagement

• Develop country-specific climate action strategies (e.g., NbS in Indonesia, climate resilience in Bangladesh).
• Engage with public and private sector stakeholders to localize and execute climate initiatives.
• Co-create scalable regional platforms for climate-finance solutions in emerging markets.
  

Execution & Impact Delivery

• Design and implement pilots and programs with measurable climate outcomes and clear financial models.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver climate-integrated solutions with strong M&E and reporting frameworks.
• Build robust pipelines of climate-aligned enterprises and partners across regions.
  

Team Leadership & Organizational Collaboration

• Mentor junior team members on climate and NbS themes; build climate literacy across IIX.
• Foster collaboration across advisory, research, capital markets, and tech teams to align on climate goals.
• Promote a culture of experimentation, thought leadership, and mission-driven innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

• 68 years of relevant experience in climate finance, sustainability, carbon markets, ESG strategy, or related fields.
• Strong track record in developing or managing climate-related programs and partnerships.
• Deep understanding of global climate frameworks (e.g., Paris Agreement, voluntary carbon markets, NbS, climate adaptation).
• Advanced degree in Environmental Finance, Sustainability, Public Policy, Economics, or related fields is a plus.
• Demonstrated success in driving organizational growth through strategic initiatives and partnerships
• Experience handling clients/external and senior stakeholders in major consulting firms, international development agencies, advisory services firms
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to adapt to senior managements working styles, able to work across teams in collaboration
• Familiarity with data-driven product development or digital climate tools is a plus.
• Regional experience in Asia-Pacific and South Asia is highly desirable

• Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
• Ability to travel to IIXs key countries of focus.
• Fluency in English required; other regional languages are a plus.
