Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role based in the Kolkata metropolitan area. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations. The role involves preparing financial statements, assisting in budgeting and forecasting, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and relevant accounting standards. The Accountant will support internal and external audits, maintain accurate financial records, and generate regular reports for management. The role also includes collaborating with academic and administrative departments to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting and finance skills, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; ability to work with spreadsheets, financial models, and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, taxation basics, and compliance requirements applicable to educational institutions.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities for reviewing data and resolving discrepancies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with finance team members and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced academic environment.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CA/CPA/CMA or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Prior experience in accounting, preferably within education, hospitality, or service-oriented organizations, is highly desirable.
