What role will you play in the team

As a Junior Investment Banking Financial Modeler, you will act as a foundational pillar for our deal execution teams. You will collaborate directly with senior deal makers, providing quantitative rigor, deep analytical insights, and flawless financial models to support live mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions across diverse domestic and international markets.

What you will do

Your daily routine will center on building and maintaining complex financial models from scratch. You will extract financial data, perform extensive variance analysis, and synthesize raw metrics into cohesive investment decks. You will also participate in client pitches, coordinate due diligence processes, and ensure all quantitative outputs adhere to institutional compliance and accuracy standards.

Key responsibility

• Develop comprehensive Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models to evaluate target company valuations and potential transaction returns under various economic scenarios.
• Perform extensive Comparable Company Analysis and precedent transaction benchmarking using industry-standard financial data platforms to establish accurate valuation ranges.
• Assist in the drafting and compilation of confidential information memorandums, pitch books, and investor presentation materials for active sell-side and buy-side mandates.
• Conduct thorough financial statement analysis, historical trend evaluations, and balance sheet stress testing to identify hidden risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional advisory teams, legal counsels, and accounting specialists during the financial due diligence phase of live transactions.
• Automate repetitive financial reporting workflows and data extraction processes using advanced Excel macros and VBA scripts to maximize team efficiency.
• Monitor capital market trends, regulatory updates, and macroeconomic indicators to generate timely insights for senior leadership and active clients.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline from a recognized institution with a strong academic track record.
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in building dynamic DCF, LBO, and M&A models from scratch under tight deadlines.
• Expert-level command of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formula writing, financial modeling best practices, and Excel Macros & VBA automation.
• Familiarity with financial data terminals and market intelligence tools such as Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, FactSet, and PitchBook.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Indian and international capital markets, corporate finance principles, and accounting standards (GAAP/Ind AS).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly in high-pressure client environments.
• Keen attention to detail, rigorous analytical mindset, and the capability to manage multiple transactional workstreams simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy.

A Day in the Life

Your day begins with a morning briefing to review global market movements and active deal pipelines. You then dive into updating a complex LBO model for an upcoming private equity pitch, incorporating newly released quarterly earnings data. Mid-day involves synthesizing valuation comps on Capital IQ and coordinating due diligence requests. The afternoon is spent refining a pitch deck, followed by an evening sync with senior associates to review model outputs.
