Manager - Engagement Quality Control Review (EQCR)
Location: Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad
Work Mode: GDC / Hybrid as applicable
Supported Geography: US
Work Timings: Flexibility to work in US time zones based on project and deliverable requirements
About the Role:
We are looking for a Manager - Engagement Quality Control Review (EQCR) to support quality and consistency in the execution of audits for US-based engagements.
The role will be part of the Department of Professional Practice (DPP) - Engagement Quality Control Review (EQCR) team and will work closely with senior stakeholders, engagement teams and review professionals to perform objective evaluations of audit work before report release.
The Manager will be responsible for independently managing review activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, reviewing audit documentation, identifying potential quality or compliance matters, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform Engagement Quality Control Review (EQCR) procedures for specific audit areas in accordance with applicable PCAOB auditing standards, SEC requirements and US audit methodology.
- Review engagement team workpapers, audit documentation and supporting evidence for completeness, quality and compliance with applicable standards.
- Evaluate audit procedures and conclusions and identify areas requiring further clarification, documentation or follow-up.
- Conduct discussions, inquiries and confirmations with engagement teams to obtain necessary information.
- Assess engagement readiness and coordinate allocation of review activities across team members.
- Consolidate and evaluate review findings and communicate key observations, issues and status to EQCR leadership and engagement teams.
- Lead discussions with engagement teams and other stakeholders on review observations and required actions.
- Ensure timely completion of multiple reviews and standardized deliverables.
- Monitor project status, timelines, dependencies and potential risks, and proactively escalate issues where required.
- Support preparation of status reports, management updates and leadership presentations.
- Review work performed by other professionals and provide appropriate guidance and feedback.
- Stay current with developments in PCAOB standards, SEC requirements, US audit methodology and relevant professional guidance.
- Contribute to audit quality improvement initiatives, process enhancements and standardization activities.
- Coach and support junior team members and contribute to capability development within the EQCR team.
Educational Qualification:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) - Active membership required.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience after CA is required.
- Strong experience in external/statutory audit, preferably with a reputed CA firm or Big 4 organization.
- Experience in PCAOB audits, integrated audits, SEC registrants or US audit engagements is highly relevant.
- Strong exposure to audit workpaper review, audit documentation, internal controls and financial statement audit procedures.
- Experience working with multiple engagements, standardized deliverables and leadership reporting.
- Experience in coordinating with client/engagement teams and senior stakeholders.
- Candidates with strong IFRS audit experience in Big 4/component audits may also be considered.
Preferred Industry Exposure:

Technical & Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PCAOB auditing standards and US audit requirements
- Understanding of SEC independence requirements
- Strong audit documentation and workpaper review skills
- Good understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS

- Exposure to Alteryx or Power BI will be an advantage

Global Exposure:
The role will involve working closely with US-based audit and EQCR teams, providing exposure to US audit methodology, PCAOB standards and SEC-related requirements.
Opportunity for travel for group meetings or business requirements may arise, based on project needs.
Interview Process:
Candidates can expect approximately 3-4 rounds of interviews, including technical, functional and stakeholder/leadership discussions.
Work Environment:
The role supports multiple engagements and is subject to project and reporting timelines. Workload may vary depending on engagement deadlines and audit seasonality.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
CA + 5+ years post-qualification experience + Big 4/reputed audit firm + PCAOB/US audit or SEC exposure + audit workpaper review + strong stakeholder/project management experience.
