Vice President - Analytics Python Developer

J.P. Morgan is a Top 2 Global Custodian, with +$25 trillion of Assets under Custody providing safekeeping, asset servicing solutions and related services such as Cash, Liquidity and Trading Services to Asset Managers, Asset Owners, Banks and Alternative Funds in +100 markets.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Analytics Developer with outstanding Python knowledge to help the Securities Services business identify opportunities to improve efficiency, increase revenue, optimize the operating model and risk framework, and create value added data driven Products for our clients.

This is a software engineering lead role. The successful candidate will work closely with the Quantitative Research team, Product Development and Product Business users to develop applications within our Python-based Analytics platforms (Fusion and Athena). They will also assist with the build-out a cloud-based data platform to support the development of analytics and operational solutions. The experienced developer will be responsible for leading a small team of software engineers to deliver on analytics platform agenda.

This is a hands-on role requiring the design and development of applications. The successful candidate will contribute to the analytics strategy and help ensure cross-application data & logic consistency and optimisation. They will write code (predominately Python) to enrich and apply statistical analysis to data sets to produce output that will help drive the business forward. A keen interest in statistical analysis, Machine Learning and cloud technologies would be advantageous.

Requirements

• Excellent Python knowledge with a strong track record of delivering with impact
• Experience in AWS – particularly data lake patterns.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5 and core libraries/frameworks such as React.js, Flask, Bottle or Tornado
• Some knowledge of PySpark and ideally Spark Streaming and/or Kafka. 
• Experience in designing user interfaces and good visualization skills
• Strong database skills with a thorough understanding of relational databases and an understanding of Object Oriented databases
• Working knowledge of REST web services
• Knowledge of open source solutions and trending technologies
• Well-grounded in Object-Oriented Programming and design patterns
• Ability to build performant software and possess good performance tuning knowledge
• Familiarity with the SDLC and Agile
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to converse directly with business stakeholders
• Lead developer experience with an ability to effectively guide and manage others.
