Job Title: Manager-Alignment Design

Reports To: Dy. General Manager / General Manager Design

Role Summary:

The Head of Alignment Design will lead the planning, development, and delivery of railway alignment designs across multiple projects. The role involves conceptualizing and finalizing horizontal and vertical alignments, ensuring interdisciplinary coordination, and delivering cost-effective, high-quality designs. The position also provides technical support during bidding, estimation, and arbitration phases.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the preparation and optimization of horizontal and vertical alignments for new and existing railway corridors.
2. Review and validate design outputs from Civil 3D, OpenRail, MX Road, or equivalent software.
3. Ensure seamless integration of alignment geometry with bridges, stations, tunnels, and other related structures.
4. Coordinate with geotechnical, surveying, track, and structural teams for accurate data alignment and field validation.
5. Oversee preparation of Design Basis Reports, justification notes, and alignment comparison studies.
6. Implement QA/QC systems to ensure design accuracy and compliance with Indian Railway Codes and RDSO guidelines.
7. Support bidding and cost estimation by preparing BOQs and providing technical inputs for tenders.
8. Participate in arbitration and claims by furnishing technical documentation and design justifications.

9. Mentor and guide alignment design engineers and CAD staff; manage resources and ensure timely project delivery.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in railway alignment and geometric design principles.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, OpenRail, MX Road, or equivalent tools.
• Sound knowledge of Indian Railway Codes, RDSO standards, and related regulations.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Proven experience in BOQ preparation, bidding, and design-based cost optimization.
