Opportunity: Data Scientist

About the Role:

We are looking for a curious and technically sharp Data Scientist to join our growing AI team. You will work at the intersection of data, machine learning, and product translating complex business problems into scalable AI solutions. From early-stage exploration to production deployment, you will own the full data science lifecycle and help shape the way we use AI across the Kovai.co and ship new AI features.

What You Will Do

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Conduct in-depth exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights from structured and unstructured data
• Translate complex findings into clear, well-structured technical reports and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Define and track key metrics that measure model performance and business impact

Proof of Concept Development :

• Rapidly design and build technically viable PoCs in response to business problem statements, validating feasibility before full-scale development
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and domain teams to align PoC scope with real-world constraints and objectives
• Document PoC outcomes, assumptions, and recommendations clearly to support go/no-go decisions

AI Solution Development & Deployment :

• Build, evaluate, and iterate on machine learning and AI models with production readiness
• Work closely with engineering teams to test, package, and deploy scalable AI solutions into production environments
• Monitor deployed models for performance degradation, data drift, and unexpected behaviour, and implement improvements as needed

Standards, Frameworks & Best Practices:

• Champion and adopt established data science frameworks, coding standards, and reproducible research practices across the team
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing - documenting methodologies, maintaining reusable pipelines, and participating in technical reviews
• Stay current with the latest developments in AI/ML research and evaluate their relevance and applicability to the business

What You Bring

Must Have:

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a track record of delivering end-to-end ML/AI projects

  Get Hired
  Strong proficiency in Python and core data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.)
• Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals - model selection, evaluation, validation, and iteration
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data at scale
• Strong communication skills - able to present technical work clearly to varied audiences

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on experience building Generative AI solutions, including RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and LLM-based applications.
• Familiarity with LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks for building LLM workflows
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services - particularly Azure ML, Azure OpenAI Service, or Azure Data Factory
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, MongoDB Atlas, pgvector) for semantic search and embedding-based retrieval

Reporting & Collaboration:

Reports to the Senior Director, Data Science. Works closely with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders across the Kovai.co.
