Job Description
- As an Embedded Boot Firmware Architect, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and optimizing bootloader and BootROM firmware for ARM Cortex-M/R/A based platforms. Your role will involve defining requirements and specifications in collaboration with hardware, silicon, and cross-functional engineering teams. You will lead the development and maintenance of secure boot mechanisms, ensuring compliance with ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, FIPS, and NIST standards. Implementing Secure Boot, TrustZone configurations, fusing, and secure key management for hardware root-of-trust will be key aspects of your responsibilities.
Furthermore, you will design and validate low-level hardware initialization such as clocks, DDR, Flash, eMMC, NAND/NOR, PCIe, and bring-up flows. Debugging and analyzing hardware/firmware boot issues using JTAG, Lauterbach, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers will be part of your regular tasks. Collaboration with silicon and board design teams to align hardware specs with firmware boot requirements will also be essential.
Your role will also involve defining and integrating firmware update mechanisms like FOTA, A/B partitioning, rollback strategies, and recovery modes. Ensuring robustness through code reviews, static analysis, unit/integration testing, and adherence to secure coding practices will be crucial. You will document bootloader architecture, hardware interaction flows, and provide integration support to stakeholders. Additionally, mentoring engineers and guiding architecture reviews will be part of your responsibilities.
To be successful in this role, you should have 12-15 years of experience in embedded firmware/bootloader development with deep expertise in ARMv8 architectures. Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with low-level debugging expertise, is required. Hands-on experience with BootROM, Secure Boot, Measured Boot, PSA Attestation APIs, and Trusted Firmware-A/M (TF-A/TF-M) is essential. A strong understanding of hardware specs, silicon bring-up, MMU/MPU configuration, and secure execution environments is also necessary.

Familiarity with automotive protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and experience with RTOS or bare-metal development is preferred. Exposure to PCIe, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM protocols is considered a strong plus. You should have proven ability to work across cross-functional teams (hardware, silicon, software, security) and knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and platform security principles. Excellent problem-solving skills in hardware/software co-debugging environments will be beneficial.
Ideally, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field to excel in this role.,
