Field Testing Engineer

1. Device and Network Testing

• Conduct pre-launch device validation, including prototype handset and chipset-level testing.
• Perform field, sanity, functional, regression, and system testing on mobile devices across 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G networks.
• Execute mobility and stationary test scenarios, evaluating data throughput, call performance, voice quality, handovers, location accuracy, and device stability.
• Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to assess device behaviour under varied real-world conditions.
• Perform compatibility and interoperability testing with different national operators and network configurations.

2. Protocol and Log Analysis

• Capture and analyses logs using tools such as QXDM, QCAT, ELT, Wireshark, and ADB for detailed debugging and root-cause analysis.
• Investigate and validate network protocol behaviour across LTE, VoLTE, NR (5G NSA/SA) technologies.
• Conduct debugging and issue triage for field-reported problems, collaborating with R&D and modem development teams for resolution

• Utilize ADB commands for debugging, performance checks, and feature verification on Android-based devices.
• Verify software builds and firmware versions, perform device flashing, and ensure proper SW/HW integration.
• Support OTA validation and post-update testing

4. Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare comprehensive test reports, defect logs, and summary documents for each testing phase.
• Contribute to test plan, test case, and test strategy preparation aligned with project requirements.
• Maintain test evidence, logs, and reproducibility details for R&D review and bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Redmine).

5. Product and Field Quality Support

• Support R&D and Software Quality teams in both pre-launch and post-launch maintenance, including issue reproduction and regression validation.
• Participate in benchmarking and user-experience validation for performance and location-based functionality.

  Provide technical support and feedback to design, QA, and field performance teams for software maturity improvement.

6. Continuous Improvement and Safety

• Stay current with new testing methodologies, tools, and industry standards related to 5G, IMS, and Android.
• Collaborate with project and software engineering teams to ensure design quality and robust software integration.
• Adhere to all company safety, health, and quality assurance guidelines during on-site and field activities.

Required Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cellular technologies (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, NR, VoLTE, ViLTE, VoNR).
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and mobile communication systems.
• Proficiency in Android debugging (ADB, Fastboot) and device flashing tools.
• Hands-on experience with log analysis tools: QXDM, QCAT, ELT, Wireshark, etc.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with bug tracking tools (Jira, Redmine) and version control systems.
