Job Description

Role Summary
The Cashier is responsible for processing transactions in an accurate manner and timely manner using various modes of payments, while ensuring that excellent service is delivered to all customers. The role holder is also responsible for following the Cash Counter Office (CCO) policies and procedures to ensure that activities are carried out as per the required guidelines.
ROLE PROFILE
  • Scan merchandise, register sales, and process customer transactions accurately using cash, card, or other approved payment methods.
  • Communicate applicable currency exchange rates and denominations to customers and perform counterfeit detection or security checks when required.
  • Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist with packing purchased items to provide efficient and seamless service at the checkout counter.
  • Promote add-on sales opportunities and stay informed about current promotions, offers, and advertisements.
  • Manage the assigned cash counter, including setup of cash floats, availability of bags and stationery, and end-of-day cash reconciliation.
  • Maintain full accountability for the security of cash, payment devices, and other valuables assigned to the counter.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives and ensure compliance with MAF Retail's Human Capital policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • 0–2 years of experience in a cashier, retail, or customer service role.
  • Demonstrated ability to process transactions quickly and accurately, including scanning items and handling various payment methods.

  • Ability to pack and wrap customer purchases according to established quality and presentation standards.
  • Strong customer service skills, with excellent listening abilities and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Highly organized with strong multitasking capabilities and a keen attention to detail.
