Position: Senior Legal Associate

Location: Hyderabad

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Agreements and Documentation:

• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to content acquisition, licensing, syndication, and distribution.
• Ensure agreements comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain a database of contracts and proactively monitor key dates (renewals, expirations, etc.).

Content Rights Management:

• Handle legal aspects of acquiring and safeguarding intellectual property rights (IPR).
• Ensure proper legal documentation for content rights and resolve disputes related to content rights if necessary.

Coordination with External Legal Teams:

• Liaise with legal teams of partner companies for negotiations, conflict resolutions, and other legal matters.
• Coordinate with external counsels for case preparation, filings, and hearings.

Representation and Advocacy:

• Represent the company in anyproceedings, arbitrations, or mediations.
• Attend legal meetings with partners, producers, and stakeholders to resolve issues and finalize agreements.

Team Leadership and Training:

• Lead the legal team, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and goals.
• Provide training on contract management and legal compliance to team members.
• Keep the team updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the content and entertainment industry.

Compliance and Risk Mitigation:

• Ensure compliance with laws governing intellectual property, broadcasting, and licensing.
• Assess legal risks and suggest measures to mitigate them.

Policy Development:

• Assist in developing internal policies related to content rights, privacy, and compliance.
• Support management in creating policies for safeguarding company intellectual property.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Law (LLB). A Masters degree in Law (LLM) is preferred.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in legal roles, preferably in the media, entertainment, or content licensing industry.
• Hands-on experience with intellectual property rights, agreements, and litigations.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of intellectual property laws, contract laws, and compliance regulations.
• Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Leadership abilities to manage and mentor a legal team effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with partners, producers, and legal teams.
• Proficiency in handling legal tools and contract management software.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to travel for court appearances and partner meetings as needed.
• High ethical standards and attention to detail.
