About Us:
Matrimony.com Ltd, a Great Place to Work Certified Wed-Tech company listed on the BSE and NSE, is a leader in matchmaking and wedding services. Its flagship brand, Bharat Matrimony, is the largest and most trusted matrimony brand spanning customers across the entire economic strata. The company serves over 8 million members with the support of 3000+ associates and a network of 130+ company-owned retail outlets.
The company is on an aggressive growth trajectory. It achieved a consolidated revenue of Rs 459.99 crores with a PAT of Rs 34.17 crores in FY-25-26. It maintains a robust balance sheet, zero debt, and a cash surplus of Rs 342 cr as of Q1 of FY-27. Building on this momentum, the company reported a Q1 FY-27 PAT of Rs 19.1 crore, where Q1 PAT more than doubled year-on-year (127.5%) and has robust plans to achieve exponential growth in Revenue and Profits going forward.
Role Overview:
The CFO will act as a close strategic partner to the CEO and Board, serving as the financial architect for Matrimony.com's next phase of expansion. The role balances three strategic priorities: compounding the profitable core, executing high-yield capital allocation (including M&A and new ventures), and driving proactive investor relations. Because this is explicitly a Growth CFO mandate rather than a traditional compliance/stewardship role, the incumbent will bring an operator and investor mindset to deploy surplus balance sheet capacity, evaluate unit economics of incubated verticals, optimize cash productivity, and build long-term enterprise value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Growth Strategy & Capital Allocation: Drive capital deployment by setting return targets, funding new projects in stages, and reviewing performance across the core business, new bets, and acquisitions.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Lead the end-to-end M&A pipeline - target evaluation, deal structuring, due diligence, negotiation, execution, and post-merger integration to acquire capabilities, new user pools, or adjacent platforms.
- Funding Strategy & Capital Markets: Optimize balance sheet productivity; evaluate capital options (internal accruals, strategic capital, equity, debt) to fund new initiatives without compromising financial resilience.
- Investor Relations & Roadshows: Sharpen and communicate the equity story to institutional investors, PE/VC funds, and analysts through roadshows, earnings calls, and transparent capital-market outreach.
- Innovation & Incubation Governance: Partner with business heads of ManyJobs, Mandap & Wed-Assist, Luv.com, and other new verticals; establish unit economics, stage-gate funding, KPI dashboards, and ROI accountability.
- Financial Planning & Decision Support: Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario modelling. Provide data-driven analytics covering cohort economics, customer acquisition costs (CAC), pricing, and margins.
- Treasury & Balance-Sheet Productivity: Protect liquidity, manage cash flow, and design investment policies aligned with risk-return profiles while ensuring capital readiness for strategic growth.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Oversee accounting standards, tax, statutory audits, SEBI/listing compliance, and Board reporting to maintain top-tier governance standards.
- Legal & Commercial Enablement: Oversee the legal function, strengthening commercial contracting, transaction management, IP/data considerations, and regulatory risk mitigation.

Skills & Competencies:
- Strong track record of allocating capital effectively to drive organic growth, fund new businesses, lead M&A, and maximize shareholder returns.
- Demonstrated M&A capability covering target sourcing, financial modelling, deal negotiation, diligence, and post-merger integration.
- Strong credibility in capital markets, with hands-on experience in investor relations, crafting the company's equity story, and engaging with investors, bankers, and media.
- Commercially minded and analytical, with deep expertise in unit economics, customer acquisition costs, and digital marketplace models.
- Strong command over accounting, listing compliance (SEBI), tax, audit, legal oversight, and corporate governance.
- Proven leadership ability to build and transform modern finance teams using automation, analytics, and tech-driven decision support tools.
- High ethical integrity, adaptive leadership, executive presence, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with CXOs, Board members, and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent; additional credentials (e.g., MBA Finance/CFA) are highly desirable.
- 15 + years in finance, with 10+ years in senior leadership roles in finance.
- Exposure to consumer tech, internet platforms, digital marketplaces, or consumer services is preferred.
- Solid familiarity with public company operations, SEBI compliance, investor relations, board governance, and proven execution in M&A, fundraising, or scaling multi-business portfolios.
