A day in the life of this role

Meritto is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll

operations. The role requires hands-on experience with payroll tools, strong statutory compliance knowledge, and deep expertise in TDS, reconciliations, and MIS reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing with accuracy and adherence to timelines

• Process attendance, leave, incentives, reimbursements, deductions, arrears, and F&F settlements

• Ensure accurate salary structures and payouts across employees and consultants

• Support payroll closures and coordination with Finance

TDS & Tax Compliance

• Compute and deduct TDS on salaries as per Income Tax regulations

• Manage quarterly TDS return filings (Form 24Q) with accuracy and timelines

• Handle TDS reconciliations with books and TRACES

• Ensure timely issuance of Form 16 and resolution of TDS-related discrepancies

• Liaise with auditors and consultants for TDS assessments and notices

Payroll Systems & Tools

• Manage payroll using Zoho People / Zoho Payroll or similar HRMS tools

• Maintain employee payroll master data and system configurations

• Coordinate with HR/IT for system improvements and issue resolution

• Support payroll audits and system enhancements

Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, Gratuity, etc.

• Manage statutory filings, challans, and reconciliations

• Coordinate with consultants and authorities during audits or assessments

• Stay updated with changes in payroll laws and regulations

MIS & Reporting

• Prepare detailed payroll MIS reports, dashboards, and management summaries

• Perform payroll, TDS, and statutory reconciliations on a periodic basis

• Generate variance analysis and insights for leadership review

• Support month-end and year-end payroll reporting and audits

Employee & Stakeholder Support

• Act as SPOC for employee payroll queries

• Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data

• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors

What were looking for

• B.Com with 4–6 years of payroll experience

• MBA in Finance/HR is an added advantage

• Strong hands-on experience in TDS computation, return filing, and reconciliations

• Experience with Zoho People / Zoho Payroll or similar tools

• Strong knowledge of Indian payroll and statutory compliance

• Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
