Role Overview

Kimbal is seeking a Lead / Principal Sourcing Specialist - Electronics to drive end-to-end sourcing for electronic components, working closely with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams. This is a strategic role that goes beyond procurement: the candidate will influence New Product Development (NPD), optimize cost and supply, and mentor junior team members.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced professional with deep electronics domain knowledge, passion for sourcing and supply chain excellence, and hands-on P2P expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electronic components, semiconductors, and assemblies.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage key suppliers globally, ensuring high quality, cost competitiveness, and reliability.
• Lead negotiations on price, lead time, quality, and contract terms.

New Product Development (NPD) Collaboration

• Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure design-for-sourcing (DFS) principles.
• Evaluate component alternatives for feasibility, cost, and supply reliability during NPD.
• Support prototyping, qualification, and production ramp-up phases.

Cost Optimization & Risk Management

• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or timelines.
• Monitor supplier performance and develop mitigation strategies for supply chain risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Mentoring

• Work closely with planning, quality, finance, and operations teams to resolve discrepancies and enable smooth NPD execution.
• Mentor and guide junior sourcing team members, fostering capability building and knowledge transfer.
• Market Intelligence & Technology Leadership
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, electronic component trends, and global sourcing dynamics.
• Recommend innovations in sourcing and supply chain to support Kimbal's technology leadership ambitions.Preferred Background, Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
• 10-15 years of experience in electronics sourcing, preferably with exposure to smart metering, energy devices, or hardware-software integrated products.
• Deep expertise in electronic components, PCBAs, semiconductors, and associated manufacturing processes.
• Proven experience in P2P process excellence, including SAP/MM, Ariba, or equivalent ERP systems.
• Experience working with EMS, JDM, and ODM suppliers.
• Knowledge of Lean principles and PPAP in manufacturing.
• Demonstrated involvement in New Product Development (NPD) and design-for-sourcing (DFS).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
