Job Description
Seeking a dynamic and experienced Director in a semi government institution. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations, fostering member engagement, strengthening government relations, and driving impactful events that promote industrial, trade, and commercial growth. The Director will lead the assigned Secretariat team, mentor junior staff, and act as the primary liaison between the Chamber, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
a. Oversee day-to-day operations of the given department / function in the Secretariat.
b. Supervise, mentor, and guide junior staff to achieve organizational goals.
c. Ensure efficient coordination across teams for seamless execution of initiatives.
d. Drive, manage & co-ordinate various expert committees members for meaningful outcomes from committees led by Chairpersons & Advisors
Government & Policy Engagement
a. Represent the Chamber in meetings with government officials, ministers, and policymakers along with key industrial stakeholders / Managing Committee Members & office bearers
b. Secure appointments with government representatives to address industry concerns.
c. Advocate for policy reforms that enhance ease of doing business.
d. Collect inputs and recommendations on trade and industrial policies & make representations to govt authorities / agencies
Event Management
a. Plan, organize, and oversee Chamber events including:
i. Knowledge-based workshops (Free / Paid )
ii. Industrial growth promotion events (Paid / Sponsored)
iii. Ceremonies recognizing excellence.
iv. Networking events for members.
b. Ensure smooth conduct of events with high professional standards.
c. Invite and host ministers, dignitaries and eminent persons as Guests of Honour appropriate for the event being hosted.
Sponsorship & Fundraising
a. Identify and secure sponsorships for Chamber events.
b. Build strong relationships with corporate partners and industry leaders.
c. Develop strategies to enhance financial sustainability of Chamber activities.
Member Engagement
a. Strengthen ties with members from industrial, trade, and commerce sectors.
b. Address member concerns and provide timely solutions.
c. Promote initiatives that add value to membership.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Masters degree in Business Administration / Bachelors degree in Economics, Public Policy, HR or related field.
Experience: Minimum 1520 years in leadership roles within trade associations, chambers of commerce, industry bodies, or government relations or companies
