Senior Production Officer - Burdwan

Key Responsibilities:

1.Production Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement annual and seasonal seed production plans for assigned crops and areas.
• Select suitable growers and production locations based on crop requirements and yield potential.
• Ensure timely availability of parent seeds, inputs, and other production resources.
• Prepare production budgets and monitor cost efficiency.

2. Field Operations & Agronomy

• Monitor crop growth stages and provide technical guidance on agronomic practices (land prep, sowing, irrigation, nutrient management, pest & disease control).
• Conduct regular field visits to ensure adherence to isolation distances, rouging standards, and cultural practices.
• Manage pollination activities (for hybrid crops) and ensure proper execution of field protocols.

3. Grower & Vendor Management

• Identify and onboard seed growers; negotiate production agreements.
• Conduct training programs for growers on best agronomic and seed production practices.
• Maintain strong relationships to ensure grower satisfaction and long-term collaboration.

4. Harvesting & Post-Harvest Operations

• Supervise harvesting, threshing, drying, cleaning, and storage processes.
• Ensure proper handling of parent seed and produced seed to maintain genetic purity.
• Coordinate seed processing and timely movement to warehouse or processing plants.

5. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain production records: acreage, crop progress, field inspections, yield estimates, and final outputs.
• Prepare periodic production reports for management review.
• Ensure documentation required for certification and audits is complete.

Education, Skills, and Work Experience Requirements:

Educational Qualification: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Agriculture / Seed Science / Agronomy or related field

Relevant Work Experience: 2-4 Yrs experience in Seed production.
