Key Responsibilities
- Translate Business Problems: Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex business problems into data-centric solutions that address functional, non-functional, and commercial concerns, such as reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Hypothesis Development: Decompose business problems into a series of testable hypotheses, identifying relevant data assets required for evaluation
- Data Analysis and Manipulation: Perform interactive analysis and manipulation of data using various data analysis and data mining techniques to support hypothesis evaluation and decision-making processes
- BI Solution Design: Design technical queries and develop Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and objectives
- Data Integration and Transformation: Connect data sources, import data, and transform data for Business Intelligence purposes, ensuring data integrity and relevance
- Visual Data Presentation: Create visually compelling documents, including dashboards and reports, to effectively present data insights and findings
- Process Documentation: Document processes and procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing, ensuring continuity and efficiency in data-related tasks
- Issue Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot business intelligence modeling issues, developing effective solutions to maintain data accuracy and reliability
- Data Backup and Security: Implement data backup and secure storage protocols, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data assets
- Power BI Development: Utilise Power BI Desktop to develop interactive dashboards and visual reports, leveraging its capabilities for enhanced data visualisation and analysis.
- Hands-on experience in data preparation, data gateway, and data warehousing projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack, including Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS
- Experience with self-service BI tools, preferably Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in JavaScript, CSS, and other JavaScript libraries
- Strong command of Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Expertise in data modeling and data analysis techniques
- Software engineering and coding skills, ideally in a data-intensive environment
- Experience with distributed/high-performance computing systems, such as grid computing or MPP systems
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
- Strong advocacy for technical positions while remaining open to alternative proposals
- Up-to-date knowledge of trends and techniques for building data pipelines for analytical/machine learning solutions.
