Chief Operating Officer - Commodities Trading

We are seeking an experienced COO - Trading to lead and oversee operations across multiple business verticals within the group. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in B2B commodities trading, having started as a trader and progressed into a leadership role managing operations and teams.
This role requires a well-rounded professional who brings both depth in trading and the ability to operate across functions - managing trading, operations, and overall business performance at a group level. The candidate should be comfortable working across different business lines and driving alignment, efficiency, and growth across the organization. Prior experience in the UAE market is essential.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee group-wide trading and operational functions across multiple B2B commodity verticals.
- Ensure alignment between trading strategy, execution, and operational efficiency across all entities.
- Manage and build teams across trading, operations, and support functions at a group level.
- Drive performance across businesses, with focus on volumes, margins, and profitability.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and international partners.
- Monitor global markets, pricing trends, and risks to guide business decisions.
- Develop and implement business plans, operating frameworks, and growth strategies across verticals.
- Work closely with leadership on new initiatives, expansion plans, and cross-business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, contracts, and quality standards across all operations.
- Bring a hands-on approach to solving operational challenges while maintaining a strategic view.
Core Competencies :
- Strong background in B2B Agri commodities / Metals Trading.
- Ability to operate across multiple business functions and verticals with a holistic view.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams across trading and operations.
- Deep understanding of global trade flows, supply chains, and market dynamics.
- Strong commercial acumen with sound judgment and negotiation skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of the UAE business and regulatory landscape.
Qualifications Required :
- 15 - 20 years of experience in B2B commodities trading.
- Demonstrated progression from trading roles to leadership positions managing teams and operations.
- Prior experience working in the UAE (mandatory).
