Role Overview

• We are looking for a driven
  
  Business Manager to own and drive high-impact programs within Porters Payments charter- spanning vendor management, cost optimization, multi-vendor architecture, security/compliance, and new-market payment expansion. As an individual contributor, you will own end-to-end vendor management for payments, SMS, and e-invoicing across markets- finding, evaluating, negotiating, and onboarding vendors, then managing the relationship afterward- while also driving the programs that sit on top of that vendor base: cost optimization, multi-vendor architecture for resilience and leverage, Infosec/security initiatives within the payment charter, and building Porters understanding of new-country payment rails and local infrastructure. This is a build-from-scratch role: there is usually no existing playbook for a given market, vendor category, or program, so youll need to develop your own read on the landscape, judge technical fit against Porters infrastructure, and carry both deals and programs through to execution- all while staying current enough on payment rails, local regulation, and security requirements to know whats actually negotiable or non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

• Vendor Management: Own the end-to-end vendor lifecycle across payments and adjacent channels- sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, onboarding, and managing the relationship for the life of the contract.
• Program Ownership: Drive cross-functional programs within the payments charter- such as cost optimization and vendor architecture- from problem definition through execution, working closely with Engineering, Product, and Security.
• Market & Infra Expansion: Build Porters foundational understanding of new markets- payment rails, local infrastructure, and adjacent compliance requirements- to support new-geography launches.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure vendor, architecture, and program decisions within the payments charter meet Porters security and regulatory bar, partnering with Infosec as needed.
• Technical & Commercial Judgment: Evaluate technical fit against Porters infrastructure and negotiate commercial terms accordingly- knowing whats genuinely fixed vs. negotiable in a given market or vendor conversation.
• Landscape Building: Independently build a first-principles read on the payments, communication, and e-invoicing vendor landscape in a given market where no existing playbook exists.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors in Engineering from a Tier-1 institution
• 2 years of experience spanning vendor management, program/project management, payments/fintech partnerships, or strategic sourcing- exposure to payment gateways, PSPs, or banking rails is a plus
• Excellent communication and articulation- able to hold their own in negotiation and represent Porters position clearly to vendors and internal stakeholders alike
• Demonstrated ability to build a market/vendor/program point of view from zero- no reliance on an existing playbook
• Able to plan, execute, and report on multi-workstream programs (e.g. cost optimization, architecture migration) end-to-end
• Good technical fluency given engineering background: able to assess vendor APIs, architecture, and infra fit directly
• Baseline security/compliance literacy- comfortable running Infosec-adjacent programs in partnership with a security team
• Strong negotiation instincts, from commercial terms to contractual close
• Willingness to build regulatory fluency in a new market (India or Southeast Asia) as needed
• Comfortable operating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, Legal, and Finance
