Supplier Quality Engineer - Chennai

Role & responsibilities

Supplier Management

• Evaluate and approve new fabrication suppliers.
• Conduct supplier audits (process & system).
• Monitor supplier quality performance (PPM, rejections, delivery).
• Drive supplier improvement plans.
• Fabrication & Welding Quality
  

Inspection & Quality Control

• 
  Conduct source inspections at supplier sites.
• Check material traceability and documentation.
• Support third-party and customer inspections.
  

Problem Solving

• Handle supplier quality issues.
• Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why).
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  

Coordination

• Work closely with Procurement, Design, Production, and Projects.
• Clarify technical issues with suppliers.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  
• 4+ years experience in heavy fabrication or engineering industry.

• Ability to read engineering drawings.
  
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and welding methods.
  
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
  
• Willingness to travel to supplier locations.
