Manager - Accounts & Finance - Real Estate/Construction - CA

Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and technology-savvy Manager - Accounts & Finance to lead the Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A and Tax Compliance functions for a leading promoter, developer and construction group in Pune.
The role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, smooth monthly closing, effective tax compliance, robust MIS and FP&A support, and efficient utilisation of the organisation's ERP system. The position will also lead and mentor the accounting team and drive process discipline, automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations across the group and ensure accuracy, completeness and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Drive the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process.
- Review general ledger, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, revenue, costs, receivables, payables and other accounting schedules.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for construction projects, development activities, land transactions, project costs and related-party transactions.
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
MIS, FP&A & Business Support:
- Lead preparation of monthly MIS, project-wise profitability reports, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and variance analysis.
- Provide meaningful financial insights to management on project performance, costs, margins, working capital and cash flows.
- Develop and improve management dashboards and analytical reports to support business decision-making.
- Work closely with project, commercial, procurement and business teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance, including GST, TDS, Income Tax and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Ensure timely filing of returns, payments, reconciliations and responses to tax/statutory queries.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors and consultants wherever required.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business.
ERP & Process Management:
- Take ownership of the ERP system from a finance and accounting perspective and ensure smooth and effective utilisation by the accounting and business teams.
- Work with ERP teams/consultants to configure processes, improve controls and develop MIS reports.
- Should have the ability to understand business requirements and design/define ERP-based MIS and reporting solutions.
- Experience with ERP platforms such as Highrise, SAP or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Drive standardisation, automation, internal controls and continuous improvement of finance processes.
Audit & Compliance:
- Coordinate statutory, tax and internal audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and supporting schedules for audit and management review.
- Strengthen financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, guide and motivate the accounting team to deliver accurate, timely and reliable financial information.
- Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance and develop team capabilities.
- Establish a process-oriented and accountability-driven culture within the finance function.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of the real estate, construction, promoter and developer business, including project accounting and project-wise financial analysis.

- Strong knowledge of FP&A, MIS, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Good understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax and other statutory compliances relevant to the business.
- Strong ERP knowledge with the ability to use technology for process improvement and MIS development.
- Experience with Highrise, SAP or similar ERP systems will be preferred.
- Technology-savvy and comfortable working with ERP, reporting tools, Excel and data-driven financial analysis.
- Strong process orientation, attention to detail and analytical ability.
- Excellent people-management, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced business environment.
Qualification & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5 years of post qualification experience or completion of CA article ship with 10 years of experience in leading the accounting/finance function.
- Candidates with substantial experience in a real estate, construction, promoter or developer organization will be strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in managing accounting teams and delivering monthly MIS, financial close, statutory compliance and management reporting.
