Job Description
- The Cloud Architect role at Rackspace is a crucial position within the support infrastructure, responsible for providing management and implementation guidance at department, company, and industry levels. As a Cloud Architect, you are expected to proactively identify and advise on potential challenges that may arise in large-scale multi-platform infrastructures across various customer environments. Your role involves addressing specific customer requirements by utilizing both new and existing technologies, products, and features. Additionally, you will evaluate, document, and train Cloud Engineering and support teams to ensure the supportability of customer environments.
You will serve as the final escalation point within the Rackspace support group for resolving technical issues and complex problems, ensuring timely and effective resolutions. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for guiding new product selection and implementation strategies within the support framework. Collaborating with vendors to analyze escalated requests, you will identify training opportunities to enhance technical expertise and drive positive customer outcomes. Adherence to company security policies and relevant standards is a key aspect of this role.
As a recognized expert within the organization, you are expected to demonstrate in-depth expertise in your job discipline and possess a broad knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization. Your problem-solving abilities have a significant impact on the business, and you actively contribute to the development of organizational sub-function strategies. Progression to this level is typically based on business requirements.
Key responsibilities of the Cloud Architect role include serving as a technical escalation point for the Cloud Support and Engineering teams, collaborating with partners to resolve customer issues, and creating and delivering customer solutions. You will participate in defining future state architectures, platforms, and solutions to enhance security capabilities. Additionally, you will lead analysis efforts, review vendor support escalations, and contribute to technical best practices development.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess expert-level knowledge of Cloud Platform Products such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Openstack, as well as a deep understanding of OS-specific webhosts and database technologies. Proficiency in Agile/Lean Development, CI/CD Tools, Cloud Automation Tools, and other technical skills is required. Collaboration with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams is essential for successful project delivery.
Education requirements for this role include a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with relevant technical certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Certifications for Hyper-V Specialists, and VCP-DCV Certification for VMware Specialists being preferred. Continuous learning and skill development are key components of this role to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.,
