Design Lead

Role & responsibilities :

Electrical & Switchyard Design:

• Lead endtoend electrical design for utilityscale solar, wind, and hybrid projects (DC/AC/EHV systems).
• Prepare and review singleline diagrams, relay and protection schemes, SCADA architecture, and equipment layouts.
• Plan and design switchyards and substations up to 400kV, including equipment specifications, layout design, and evacuation studies.
• Perform feasibility studies, yield estimation (EYA), site analysis, and technology selection.

Civil & Structural Design:

• Guide civil design for site layout, grading, drainage, roads, equipment foundations, and buildings (inverter rooms, control rooms, switchyard equipment platforms).
• Lead review and design optimization for module mounting structures, switchyard gantry foundations, boundary walls, and other civil works.
• Ensure compliance with IS, IEC, IEEE, NBC, and other relevant design standards and specifications.

TechnoCommercial Support:

• 
  Participate in prebid engineering, costing, BOQ preparation, risk assessment, and costbenefit analyses for tenders and EPC bids.
• Evaluate design optimization strategies for reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

• Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary design team (civil, structural, electrical).
  Ensure timely delivery and quality compliance across all engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal departments (procurement, construction, project execution), external vendors, and stakeholders (NTPC, GUVNL, MAHAGENCO, PGCIL, etc.) for approvals, clarifications, and design alignment.

Project Support & Compliance:

• Troubleshoot design and operational issues for complex EHV and renewable energy projects.
• Maintain compliance with CEA regulations, grid connectivity requirements, and applicable industry standards.

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering required.
• Masters degree in Renewable Energy, Structural Engineering, or related fields preferred.

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong background in solar and wind energy systems, plant layout, SCADA, protection schemes, and EHV design.
• Expertise in both civil and electrical design for solar farms, wind farms, and substations (switchyards).
• Experience with power evacuation and transmission line design up to 400kV.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, ETAP, PVsyst, Helioscope, MATLAB, DiaLux, and other relevant design software.
• Strong knowledge of IS, IEC, IEEE, NBC standards, and CEA regulations.
