The Director of Quality Engineering will lead a high performant quality engineering organization for the implementation and oversight of comprehensive testing strategies across functional, automation, and performance testing within the organization. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from team management and budget oversight to the execution of various testing methodologies on a SaaS cloud platform.

High-Quality Product Releases: Regular, on-schedule releases of new features and updates with minimal bugs or issues. Success is evident when customers receive continuous value without disruptions to their service.
Increased Automation Coverage: A significant increase in test automation coverage that ensures faster release cycles and quicker detection of bugs. Success is also measured by the reduction in manual testing efforts and the efficiency of the testing process.
Customer Satisfaction and Trust: Positive feedback from customers regarding the stability and reliability of the product. Success is marked by high customer satisfaction scores, low churn rates, and an increase in customer loyalty and trust.
Team Development and Morale: Building a strong, skilled, and motivated quality engineering team. Success includes low turnover rates, high team morale, and continuous professional development opportunities for team members.
Process Improvement and Innovation: Implementation of best practices in quality engineering, including CI/CD, test automation, and performance testing. Success looks like continuous improvement in processes, adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and innovative approaches to solving quality challenges.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective collaboration and communication with other departments, such as development, product management, and customer support, to ensure a cohesive approach to product quality. Success is when the quality engineering strategy is fully integrated into the product development lifecycle, leading to better product decisions and outcomes.
Metrics-Driven Management: Establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, team performance, and customer satisfaction. Success is demonstrated through measurable improvements in these areas, showing a direct impact on the companys products/services and customer satisfaction.
Risk Management and Compliance: Ensuring that the companys products meet all regulatory and compliance standards relevant to the industry. Success involves maintaining a clean compliance record and effectively managing any potential risks related to product quality or security.
What you Will Do
Team Management and Leadership

• Develop and manage the quality engineering team to meet organizational goals
• Drive a test automation culture and focus across Engineering & Product organizations.
• Ensure the availability of necessary skills and resources for effective testing execution.
• Promote a team culture of continuous learning and development.
• Conduct performance assessments, set objectives, and guide career progression.
• Align team efforts with quality benchmarks to achieve quarterly goals.
• Monitor quality metrics to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage the budget and resources for quality engineering activities.
  

Functional Testing

• Ensure compliance with established testing protocols.

• Collaborate with development and business units to ensure testing aligns with business needs.
• Manage risks associated with functional testing.
• Oversee defect tracking and resolution.
  

Automation Testing

• Identify opportunities for test automation and implement appropriate frameworks and tools.
• Provide training and support for automated testing methodologies.
• Ensure the effective execution of automated tests.
  

Performance Testing

• Ensure performance testing complies with established protocols.
• Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to align testing with system requirements.
• Manage performance testing risks and analyze results to recommend improvements.
  

Security Testing

• Develop and implement a security testing strategy.
• Plan, conduct, and document security tests.
  

Accessibility Testing

• Design and execute testing strategies in compliance with accessibility standards.

  Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including senior leadership and development teams.
• Provide regular updates on testing progress and outcomes.
• Collaborate with various organizational units to integrate testing into the software development lifecycle.
  

What You Will Bring

• Experience: At least 8 years in quality engineering or related fields, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing quality engineers or software developers.
• Quality Assurance Methodologies & SDLC: Deep knowledge in QA processes and software development lifecycle integration.
• Test Automation: Experienced in designing and implementing test automation strategies using various tools and languages.
• CI/CD Practices: Proficient in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices and how QE supports these pipelines.
• Metrics and Reporting: Skilled in defining and utilizing key quality metrics for decision-making.
• Team Building: Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing QE teams.
• Strategic Planning: Capable of developing and executing strategic plans for the QE function.
• Stakeholder Management: Excellent at communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms.
• Insight into mobile application testing.
